Last week the Yankees were reportedly in serious discussions with veteran utility man Bill Hall. Tuesday afternoon, Hall tweeted in capital letters "It's official, I'm a Yankee!" The Yankees confirmed that Hall received a Minor League deal with an invite to Spring Training. Off a rough 2011 (.211/.261/.314 in 199 total plate appearances), Hall worked out with Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long. Two seasons ago, he played left field, right field, second base, shortstop and third base (and even pitched) for the Red Sox. Follow Jon Lane on Twitter: @JonLaneNYC

While Hall endured a rough 2011 (.211/.261/.314 in 199 total plate appearances), he is reportedly working out with Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long. Two seasons ago, Hall played left field, right field, second base, shortstop and third base (and even pitched) for the Red Sox. If the two sides come to terms, Hall could spell many veterans who need days off – think Jerry Hairston Jr. -- especially if the Yankees fill the DH spot with an established bat.
