The Yankees' 4-2 comeback win over the Rays has clinched a postseason berth for the 16th time in 17 seasons. The scenario for Game 2 (YES, 7 p.m.) is simple: Another victory and a Red Sox loss to the Orioles and the Yankees will win the American League East. Here was Joe Girardi before Game 1 facing a situation where Hector Noesi was asked to make an emergency start for Phil Hughes (back spasms). Noesi was one of seven pitchers Girardi used to build bridge to Mariano Rivera: Raul Valdes, George Kontos, Aaron Laffey, Cory Wade, Boone Logan and Luis Ayala.
