Quinnipiac Bobcats in contention to join the Atlantic 10

    Sunday, May 13, 2012, 5:08 PM [General]

With the whole conference realignment situation right now, one of the teams that are in contention to join the Atlantic 10 is the Quinnipiac Bobcats. With Temple leaving the Atlantic 10 and joining the Big East, it opened up the door for the conference to expand. Butler is the newest member to join the Atlantic 10. Can anyone imagine what impact joining the Atlantic 10 would have on Quinnipiac? Quinnipiac would have teams like Butler, George Washington, and Xavier playing against them at home. Their home games would be sold out.

In the past Quinnipiac had a few games on NESN and SNY, but now the school could have their games on television on a regular basis. When Tom Moore left UConn to take over as Quinnipiac’s head coach, he was very big on trying to get big recruits to join his program. Joining the Atlantic 10 would allow Quinnipiac to emerge from being a smaller program off the radar to becoming a good competitive men’s basketball team.

Boston Red Sox to make changes during the offseason

    Friday, January 15, 2010, 11:25 AM [General]

The Boston Red Sox are definitly going through changes from now until the next season. Besides losing Jason Bay to free agency, the Red Sox are left with a lot of choices to make. Chances are, they are not going to resign Jason Bay, because he is going to be looking for a long term contract worth a lot of money. Also, the Boston Red Sox have choices on what do do with Victor Martinez, and Billy Wagner. The Boston Red Sox will probably pick up the option on Victor Martinez's contract, because he is their best hitter. Also, because their only other option would to stay with Jason Varitek, who probably won't be on team next year due to his low numbers offensively and because of his age. There is definitly no chance of the Red Sox picking up Billy Wagner's option on his contract, because Billy Wagner has rarely pitched within the last few years. As for Jonathon Papelbon, word has it that Theo Epstein, general manager of the Boston Red Sox, is looking to trade him. Jonathon Papelbon has only one year left on his contract until he hits free agency, and having Scott Boras as his free agent, who knows what kind of contract he is going to demand? Also, earlier this year the Boston Red Sox were considering trading Daisuke Matsuzaka because he just got back from an injury and he was fighting with the manager, Terry Francona. Tim Wakefield is planning to come back next year, but due to his age and his injury, is he really going to be able to come back and be effective? Only time will tell

Detroit Tigers interested in former Yankee Johnny Damon

    Friday, January 15, 2010, 11:15 AM [General]

According to Sports Illustrated and Yahoo Sports, the Detroit Tigers have contacted  former Yankee Johnny Damon. The Tigers could really use Johnny Damon's bat, considering that they have recently traded Curtis Granderson. Johnny Damon's role with the team would probably be left field, or maybe even center field because as of right now, their center fielder is a highly regarded prospect; Austin Jackson. The question is whether Johnny Damon would be their leadoff hitter, or would he bat second? Johnny Damon takes alot of pitches, walks alot, and can hit 300 as a batting average. Also, he makes contact with the ball alot. Johnny Damon steals alot of bases and scores alot of runs. The only problem with Johnny Damon is his arm. He cant throw the ball very well, but he makes up for it with his speed and his ability to catch fly balls. Johnny Damon would be a great addition to the Detroit Tigers team.
