Duke Case

As you might have already heard or read the charges have been dropped in the Duke case, because the accuser has told the D.A. (Mike Nifong) that she cannot remember if she was "penetrated". Also the lack of DNA evidence led to the dismissal of the charge. Some charges still applicable such as kidnapping and sexual offense which can bring heavy jail time (felonies), so the Duke players are not in the clear yet. Has this gone on too long, or is Mike Nifong justified?
*I just realize you cannot use the "R" word (the word that rhymes with tape)

I think the whole case is a very tough call. With the lack of physical evidence and the accuser now saying she cannot remember, I can say one thing...I am glad that I am not in that DA's shoes!

They showed her a line-up that only included Duke Lacrosse players that were at the party. If they had Duke students not at the party in the line-up, and she chose them, there would be no case. We don't know what happenned that night, but we do know the alleged 'victim' has changed her story several times.

It has gone on too long. I know, it sounds like it could make for a good Lifetime movie: After a year, one of the Lacrosse members comes forward to reveal the awful secret he vowed to never reveal. How there were 3 members of the Lacrosse team in some kind of conspiracy to hire a stripper and sexually assault her in a bathroom, send her on her way. They go onto to live their lives never to be found out until the key betrayal.

The movie writes itself. I just don't see that as being realistic on any level.

I don't think the accuser had sex with any of the accused. No DNA was found, and she even says she cannot recall whether intercourse occured. I don't know what happened, she could have easily been teased, ridiculed, or called insulting names, but obviously a r-ape did not occur.

I think the case has been pretty badly handled in most ways. As someone said before, the accuser was looking at a lineup of only Duke players, meaning that she could have just picked random kids. Also the other stripper that was there at the party, and who has been considered a main witness, has changed her own story several times, and she was even caught making a call to a publicist about how she should handle the case. I don't think the Duke lacrosse kids are good kids, especially after reading that horrible e-mail that one of them sent, but I don't think the charges that have been brought against them are true.
