After reading Goldman's latest blog, he states that baseball should put a cap on pitchers at 11.Each team can only carry 11 pitchers as he puts it....."it will improve pitching, and speed the game up"end quote..........Most teams carry 11 pitchers anyways....And is really one less pitcher going to speed the game up?? I don't think so.!!...Maybe baseball should eliminate the pinch-hitter so the game can speed up!! Get real Steve!! By putting a cap on pitching takes strategy away from the game, plus you are running the risk of pitchers getting tired, and as a result a lot more runs being scored.....WHICH MEANS MORE RUNS, AND WHEN MORE RUNS ARE SCORED THE LONGER THE GAME GOES.......

"Get real Steve!! By putting a cap on pitching takes strategy away from the game, plus you are running the risk of pitchers getting tired, and as a result a lot more runs being scored.....WHICH MEANS MORE RUNS, AND WHEN MORE RUNS ARE SCORED THE LONGER THE GAME GOES..."

The biggest reason for the length of games as it is now is the unnecessary breaks, caused in large part by the extensive specialization of pitching. By capping the number of pitchers you carry, you force teams to sometimes push a pitcher that one extra batter, instead of bringing in the lefty for Ortiz (break while he warms up), pulling him after Ortiz (break while the next guy warms up).

Will offense increase? Maybe a little. But a game going long because runs are being scored is acceptable. A game running long because the manager made 3 pitching changes in a single inning is dull, and it's a large part of why kids aren't tuning in.

Do all of you really care if the game is a little longer? If we're winning, who cares?
