I would like to remind everyone that Goldman thought that Hughes should have been in the rotation last year. He praised Kennedy. He thought that Joba should be in the rotation. If he bothers to notice this post, he will probably say that there was no option. I don't believe him. I think that he
felt it was a good idea. Period.

So much for the resident stat man's wisdome

Carl, are you saying that Hughes and Kennedy aren't deserving of any praise? Hughes came in last year and pitched well until his injury, then eventually got over his inconsistency to finish strong. Kennedy was excellent last year. The fact that each had a pretty rough April is evidence that they're lousy?

You can argue that Joba shouldn't be in the rotation, but suggesting that because Goldman praised Hughes and Kennedy he is therefore wrong about Joba is not a compelling argument. Praise for those two pitchers is justified, despite their growing pains, and even if it weren't and Goldman was totally wrong, that's not proff that he's wrong about Joba.
