Do you think that there's any way we can somehow lure John Flaherty out of retirement? It really makes sense for both parties: First of all, the Yankees are in desperate need for a backup catcher. Flaherty fits that perfectly... He can play 2 or 3 days a week or so to fill in for Jorge. If Flaherty got into about 60 games this season I'd project him to produce something like:

.300/15-20 homeruns/40-50 RBIs and an OBP of around .450.

This really seems like the best option possible for us... It also works for Flaherty because we all know how much of a competitor he is. He's one of the best defensive catchers in the game (if not the best) and he can probably play some outfield or first base if necessary. Let's get this deal done.

2 years at about $6-8 million per season with incentives that could make the 2 year deal worth anywhere from $18-20 million.

shocked I hope you are kidding about Flaherty hitting .300 he would be lucky to hit .200. He wont hit 15-20 homeruns either playing 60 games let alone 160. Posada woulnt hit that many homeruns in 60 games. If its a joke its a good one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well he made the message at 1:24 in the morning so maybe he just couldn't think thenwink. I don't know that many catchers that are out there, but there are gonna have to be better options options out there than Flaherty.

I'm sure he could pitch some too for us, he's only 39 and been retired a year. He may not want to delay his Hall of Fame eligability though.
