42-year-old Jim Leyritz, who last played in the majors in 2000, is considering a comeback in 2007.

This is what happens when guys like Gary Matthews Jr. and Gil Meche get $50 million contracts; all the old guys want another shot. Leyritz said he has been contacted by teams, and he thinks he could be of use as a reserve catcher and first baseman. "They asked me and I am going to start working out," he said

I love the king, and his HR lives in Yankee lore, but if he were to attempt a comeback, he'd be worse than his identical twin, Garth Brooks was when he kept trying to play baseballtongue

Say the Yankees need a backup catcher, and a first baseman so why don't we sign Leyritz and bring back Tino and have Leyritz be Pettitte's personal catcher again. Shrewd thinking there!

MLB teams don't pick up trash from the streets. It's foolish and dumb.

Have you seen the Yankee backup catchers lately? Sure looks like they've been picking the trash. Sal Fasano looked like he just crawled out of a dumpster. He certainly belonged in one they way he "backed up".devilish

I don't know. Isn't that like wondering which piece of burnt toast is less burnt? It tastes bad any way you burn it. smile
