Ususally when someone that dies that young it had an udetected defect probably at birth. It does hurt but they now have to figure out what is to be done to avoid the Bias situation. His was brought on by cocaine and it is a shame because they had to know he was doing it in school, in my opinion. Such young talent wasted.

Yes, Lenny Bias was doing coke the night he died, and for some time before. Naturally, the media paid more attention to that then the fact that he was so young and made some mistakes. That buried the Celtics for ten years. Lenny went toe Maryland, right? Wasnt there a kid from Loyola who collapsed on the court and died too? I forget his name. Usually this affliction happens with basketball players and has something to do with the height/heart issue. My godmother had a son who died this way. He was 22 or so. He was about 6'10", doing a warm up before running, and collapsed right in the basement of his mother's house.

What makes it truly wasteful was that


1. there was no ambulance or medical facility on-site.


2. The EMS did not have the proper equipment to treat him when they did finally arrive

We look at atletes and think they are the picture of good health, that is a fallacy. Remember Joe Kennedy the young pitcher that passed away I think last year? I can't remember the name of the Russian Skater who with his wife won a Couple of Gold Medals in the Olympic some years ago. They were so smooth.................. I think the first gold came when she was 16, at any rate, he dropped dead at 28.
