My all time favorite was ENZO'S PIZZA in Hoboken, NJ (right by the train station). Unfortunately, it is no more...

So, in the years since, I have been in search of a new
"favorite." While there have been many contenders, no one has yet
come close to Enzo's...

Any thoughts?

Yeah, I hate pizza.

I've been out of New York for over 16 years and haven't lived in the Bronx since the early 70's. Maybe it was a pizza place on Crosby I was thinking of---John's might not have been the name--but now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure it was on Crosby. I lived in the Country Club section---lived on Stadium Avenue and then on Siegfried. Loparino's is where we always bought our cold cuts. And Al and Dom's (or was it Sal and Dom's?) was where we got pastries.

Wow...

I'm over in Pelham Bay. Have only been here for a little over a year, although I have been working at a school in the area for about 2-1/2 years.

Still have to scope out more of the area.. :)

If you haven't been there yet, you really should try Louis Seafood Restaurant---it's on Tremont Ave. near Bruckner Blvd---3478 Tremont Ave. The place has been there for years--family owned---best Italian food I've had that wasn't cooked by my Sicilian grandmother.

I have heard about the place, but haven't made my way over there yet.

Thanks for the tip. :)

If you want good pizza, DO NOT COME TO CALIFORNIA. Seriously. Feel sorry for me. I think the bast pizza I've ever had was from a Trader Joe's.

Wasn't there a Louie's in "The Godfather?" Wasn't that where Michael shot that dirty cop? Louie's in the Bronx? "Best veal in the city!" Beware of people exiting the men's room. wink

The filming location was the Luna restaurant in the Bronx, but I do think they refer to it as Louie's in the movie.

I'd like to add Florida to that list. I have found 1 place down here..in Bonita Springs that rivals those in Upstate where I'm from. My girlfirend tells me I have to go to Arthur Ave.(she doesn't know where 'cause she never paid attention to thaat stuff!) the next time I'm up in the City....

You people are making me hungry...
