It's funny how some of these talk show personalities became fans of certain teams. Brandon Tierney said he became a Jet fan because he thought the Giants where "boring". This was late 70's early 80's. And even admitted he might made the wrong choice. LOL! Beningo did say he became a Jet fan because Namath was his favorite player and he went to the Jets. But from listening to him he was watching the Giants games before the Jets where even around. I have no idea how he's a Met fan though.

Benigno was in cllege when the Jets won the Superbowl, so it's possible that he just didn't follow baseball until 1962. He would have have been around 11 back then. That sounds about the right time period that kids get into sports.

and now you have met fans saying that they won't only win the WS but also take the city back. The santana move was big but there are still some questions on their team just like there is questions about ours

Not only that but you need more than one ace to win a WS. You can have the best team during the regular season but it is a cr*p-shoot once October comes. Besides anyone who makes it out of the AL will be heavy favorites if/when the Mets get there. And I would have to agree with that the better teams in the AL is still better the best team in the NL. Which is probably the Mets.

This isn't sour grapes on my part because I had the same concerns when Santana was being rumored to be traded here. But he is better in the regular season than he is the post season. He's not terrible but compared to say Beckett he's no where near that good come October. He never seems to go that deep into post season games at-least not against the Yankees. And I would be concerned if I was a Met fan with him reportedly not using his slider last year add to that he has a ton of innings already in his arm. All that is the reason I'm happy the trade didn't happen with the Yankees.

lol it is sad i'm guessing it was that time in the 80's when the yankees were bad. I was only a baby back then so I don't remember it. Can you shed some light though were the mets the talk of the town or the flavor of the month

i would have liked to see him in a yankee uni but he's a met and the yanks have decided to go with the kids. But yet they just handed over a starting spot to a 39 yr old that 1 doesn't deserve it and 2 is way past his prime. And yes you have a point you need more than one starter in the post season. Beckett pitched a great game against the indians but if schilling lost the next game beckett's effort would have got attention but it would have been wasted. My thing is why is it every few seasons the mets need someone to save the franchise: pizza, beltran, pedro, santana, etc.
