Three teams are reported to be vying for his services..and one of them will acquire him...all three..Yankees, Mets, and Red Sox have great closers...he wants that incentive money that comes with the closer title written in his Ranger contract, if the money is there so will he...case close!!!!!...your argument is old news.
To reiterate....Texiera and Saltalamacchia et al deal make a lot of sense...Braves have McCann as there catcher for many years to come and Salty is expendable....both teams got what is needed...a trade with the Yankee's scrub would never go down. This is a good trade!!!
Laird isn't that young anymore (27, going on 28), and his offense has regressed severely this season. Teagarden is still having trouble throwing. So, to me, trading for Salty makes excellent sense for the Rangers. Knowing them, they'll keep Laird at catcher, and move Salty to first to replace Texiera, though.
