Mo can't close every day. Gagne would still get his chances but would be primarily the 8th inning guy. Assuming Farnsworth will be gone, the roles could be Proctor in the 6th, Vizcaino in the 7th, Gagne in the 8th, and Mo to close. That's the ideal scenario and interchangeable on alternate days. Then add 2 lefthanders in the mix and the bullpen has a nice ring to it.

OK Brian Cashman, you've got less than 2 days to get it done. Let's go ........

About having the best closer of all time move to set up man, yes. About the idea that Gagne said he wants to be a closer, no

and, I AM IN SUPPORT OF THAT!

I have said you don't trade your blue chips. Others are fair game. You have to give something to get something. Win/win.. you know?

But, I NEVER SAID TRADE HUGHES OR CHAMBERLAIN for Teixeira. Never. That wasn't me.

cashman ought to be fired

Because the Braves gave up an outstanding package to get Teixeira? You and idantoni84 are the idiots, not Cashman. How you can find fault with him here just shows pure ignorance. Everybody wants Teixeira, yet nobody wanted to give up Hughes or Chambelain, and Hughes was the asking price. When are people going to get it, the Yankees weren't willing to part with either, so they bowed out of the deal over two months ago. The Rangers were not interested in our mid level prospects, period.

Do you actually think he was traded for nothing? The Rangers actually got WAY the better of this deal. Saltalamacchia is the rarest of commodities in baseball, a great switch hitting, top defensive catcher. They don't come along very often. Andrus is the top shortstop in their organization, and Matt Harrison is a top pitching prospect. All for a guy who after next year will be testing the FA market for sure.

Sandman: That's just sad. What you've proposed is our starters only going 5 innings.

Man.. what has this world come to? Now you have to have 4 BP guys in every game? !! shocked

well Hughes and Joba are blue chip prospects, and Kennedy is very highly regarded as well, and rightfully so thats what other teams are asking for.

Did anyone think that this whole thing with the Yanks being invovled with Tex. was to try to keep Boston out of the running to get him? I am glad he went to the Braves and I believe that Cash did the right thing by not dealing for him. Better yet I believe that Phillips will grow into a very good first basemen. He is home grown, comes cheap, and has done a very good job so far.

Gagne will get to close on occasion but primarily used as a set up men...prior arrangement can be worked out.. additionally, Yankees might even provide monetary compensation to off set prior arrangements with Rangers( rangers gave him salary incentive in reference to closing. that is the primary reason why he wants to be a closer) regardless if he's a closer or set up man and price conscious Mets might not be willling to do so. Lets see what will transpire in the coming days.
