Giants should trade w/ Miami

Hear me out on this one. I'm a huge Giants fan and I think the Giants should keep building their defense.

Giants trade:

- Shockey

- 1st round draft pick

to the Dolphins for:

- their 1st round pick.

Giants then grab Glenn Dorsey to line up with Strahan and Osi to make up one of the best D-Lines in the NFL.

* I would be hesitant to trade Shockey and I would hate to see him go but the Giants have already shown they can play without him and Boss has really been impressive and has proved he can be a solid replacement.

Anyone else like this idea?

dolphins won't trade the # 1 pick of the NFL draft

and i think giants are good up the middle with cofield and jay alford if robbins decides to hang them up

It would be great if that would happen, but chances are they wont. If we could get the first pick and get dorsey then it would be amazing. The D-line would be the best in football by a lot. However there is no way that the Dolphins trade the 1st pick for shockey and the 31st pick. That is the last pick of the 1st round this year, NE lost their's.

However if we traded shockey and multiple picks then i think the dolphins would do it. They need so many things that they would trade the first pick for based on the amount of picks. Im not saying that they would take or next three 7th rounders, but say this first rounder, a future 1st rounder, shockey and Ward for the number one pick.

Agreed. In fact, I would trade Shockey for a mid to low first round pick or even a high to mid second round draft choice.

Also I'm tired of hearing that Boss can't block. He's a rookie. Shockey couldn't block when he was a rookie either. Boss is 6'6" and 254lbs. I'm sure he can learn to block as long as he has the willingness to learn. He runs better routes than Shockey as well and has softer hands from the little I've seen. Shockey looked flat this year and dropped a lot of balls.

Two things that figure into this years draft are:
1. Possibility of signing FA's:
a. CB, NE- Asante Samuel
b. LB, CHI- Lance Briggs
c. OT, PITT- Alan Faneca

If the G-Men can pick up one of those guys, it fills a hole we need to draft.

Trading Shockey insures that those holes get filled with another high draft pick. We all know what Jerry Reese can do with picks even after the 3rd round. Right now RB and TE are our strengths. Ideally you deal from your strengths to repair a weakness. This makes the team as a whole better. I'm betting that Reese could find another TE in that draft to back up Boss/Matthews.

hedgecock and matthews do the blocking

and the only guy i'd sign out of those 3 is samuel (at the right price). briggs is a headcase, resign kawika. the current offensive line plays well as a group and mostly young, not a need to fix something that ain't broke there as well.

OL is for depth. As is we have 5x-300 pounders. It's not easy to keep those big guys healthy all year. I agree that Samuel would be the best pickup though. If that were possible then I'd draft:

1. OLB with the first pick unless Talib was around at 31.

2. I'd still draft another CB unless we got Talib, either Cromartie, Godfrey, or the African guy from Wisconsin that stole the Xbox360.

3. Safety

4. OL- for depth

5. WR

6. DT or TE for depth

All needs would be addressed and the Defense would be about the best in the league. Not bad for a returning NFC champ (at least)

The rest of the team is set being deep and young. Having a second string QB other than the Pilsbury Throw Boy wouldn't be a bad idea either.
