I think I remember when he was healthy and happy Shockey was a beast, but it's been so long since he's been either happy or healthy.Too big a mouth and too many dropped passes kept him from being an All Time Giant great.Good luck in New Orleans.

I was hoping to get more back for Shockey. I thought for sure he was either worth a 1st rounder, or a 2nd and 3rd rounder. The Ginats didn't really get a lot back at all.

A second and fifth isn't bad. Teams don't give up first rounders. Jason Taylor went for just a second rounder. He's been injured quite a bit, any team would be stupid to give up more than what the Saints did. Honestly, I'm surprised the Giants even got that with them having next to no leverage.

Interesting side note: It's a long shot, but that second rounder could turn into a first rounder in 2010 if certain criteria are reached. If Jonathan Vilma, who was traded to the Saints from the Jets, plays in 85% of the defensive downs for the team as well as gets a contract extension, the conditional third round pick sent to the Jets becomes a second rounder for next year, meaning that same second rounder traded to the Giants becomes a first rounder the next year.

Granted, it's a long shot since the Saints have complete control over these situations, which means Vilma will probably see 84% of the defensive plays... if they were smart.

I guess we have to root for the Saints to have a bad year so the draft picks turn out to be better.
