Ovechkin is a stud, it is too bad he plays for Washington and signed a new long term deal. I would love to have seen him in a rangers uniform. The entire caps team is pretty good, they just need some decent goaltending, not sure how far they will get in the playoffs without that.

I live in the DC area but unfortunately I don't go to many of the games. I used to go to more but the fans and the arena have gotten obnoxious. They focus less on the hockey and more on bashing the other team, I am not a big fan when an organization encourages their fans to bash the other team. During stoppages they actually make fun of the other team and their fans on the scoreboard I go to the two ranger games and that is it, usually end up almost getting in fights with people who aren't even real fans. All you see is Ovechkin jerseys, most people couldn't name any one else on the team.

I have a friend who used to work for the caps, I asked him why they bash the other team, fans and even the city on the board and he said that all the good hockey people had quit. It is a shame, it is one of those organizations that only promotes themselves, not the game. They used to throw stats up on the board for league leaders and such, not anymore, which helps lead to the ignorant fans. Prior to their run last year the building was empty, now all of a sudden the place is packed every night. With the exception of the redskins, all the fans in this area are like that.

Most of them also don't know anything about hockey. I had the most obnoxious woman sitting behind me last Rangers game when Staal got in a fight with Semen. Staal pulled Semen's jersey over his head and would have beaten the life out of him but the fighting strap wasn't tied and the jersey came off, Staal fell and Semen started wailing on him like a girl. The fans went nuts and said Staal got killed, when in reality if Semen had his strap tied down Staal would have had the upper hand. Best part about it was the the fans who know something about the game (ranger fans) knew he was getting tossed, when the husband explained to his wife behind me why he was getting tossed her response was "well thats not fair". ugh

oh yeah, not to mention an entire section of ranger fans getting tossed out by security and almost arrested but none of the caps fans who were instigating the mess getting in trouble.

oh well, end of rant, I like the caps, good young team, don't like the fans, makes it hard to like the team.
