haha I am not sure to be honest.

The pic of that fruity dude is iconic on the Sabres board but I never got the story on it.

It's a well known fact that anyone who starts the game day thread without first pasting a collection of Leafs pictures will be given a 1 day suspension from posting.

We do not like them 1 bit.

Tough loss tonight though.

Rangers just can't put the biscuit in the ocean.

I know man, you are 100% correct.

The NHL is the absolutely worst marketed sport in history.

Not only do they not market the high profile players, but they want to kill fighting, and like you said, have basically killed the rivalries.

Granted the NHL channel is versus nationally but that is their own fault for killing the game.

There is a reason there was so much hoopla over the Avery situation.

The NHL had nothing going on, there was barely any coverage on ESPN, and it was nothing more than an enjoyable sport for the select fans in the team cities.

So they blow the comments our of proportion and make a big deal over a comment about other players wanting to date his ex gf.

Avery is no saint but give me a break, they don't punish guys for cheap shots but they suspend him for 2 games for saying something about his ex gf.

The league is pathetic in so many ways.

Add this one to the mix, they have OVER EXPANDED into territory that is nothing more than minor league. So kill the big markets with an over restrictive salary cap and look at what is left.

The only thing this league has done right is eliminate the tie with a shoot out. But seriously without a real major network contract who cares if the y play a real over time period of sudden death.

Too bad the WHA didn't take advantage of the lock out. They could have fielded teams in the major markets and done away with this laughing stock of mediocrity

Let me add to this to the list as well.

The inconsistent officiating is ruining the game.

Calling betts for hooking in OT when you don't call it during the game when Naslund as the puck crossing the blueline and clearly gets hooked on his arm to loose the puck. And how about not calling interference when Dubi gets dragged down in the slot and misses a centering pass.

Its a joke. Anyone trying to learn the game just asks why that wasn't a penalty but it was before.

Yes, its tough being a Leaf fan. A losing product on the ice year after year but what does the ownership care. The rink is full night after night, they are the most valuable franchise in the NHL. All we asked for this year was to lose enough so the Leafs could get the 1st overall pick and draft Taveres but so far they've screwed that up as well.

To look at the big picture, we are all gluttons for punishment. Yes, the Leafs have not won a cup since 67, 3 years before I was born but the Rangers have 1 cup in the past 67 years and the Sabres none in their existence since 70-71. But you know what, hockey's the best game and that's all that counts.

The Leafs are such a strange franchise.

Ownership can just keep on keepin on yet because of the loyalty of the fans like you said, the arena is full every night (granted the ACC is almost dead silent most nights).

They fail just enough to miss the playoffs year after year, yet not enough to get good picks a la Pittsburgh with Crosby and malkin.

But yea as a Sabres fan I have not had it much better.

At least when we s*cked royaly pre lockout you had to always tune in to see what the dominator was going to do that night.

Coupled with the Drury/Briere led presidents trophy and back to back deep playoff runs and things have been ok as a fan.

I really thought this team could make some noise this year in the playoffs because of how strong a road team we are and the fact that we have played Boston and NJ well.

However the Vanek and Miller injuries are devastating.

I would like to hope we make a move at the deadline but Darcy has no history of making moves.

agree 100%

The NHL is really lucky this year that the Bruins are on such a torrid pace.

Between them and the resurgent capitals attendance this season in those 2 major cities has increased tremendously.

i think you need to look no further than the Islanders.

A team full of tradition and success was ruined by Mike Milbury (one of the worst GMs in sports history) and are on the verge of moving to K.C...it's unfathomable.
