Did the Rangers miss some empty nets, could they have scored more? Definitely. Could the game easily be 5-3 yes.

But I can't forgive the officiating when you give Dubinsky 14 minutes and Brashear gets absolutely nothing.

The Rangers did indeed put themselves in the situation but there were a couple of horrible calls tonight. The call on Dubinsky was ridiculous unless the misconduct was for something said on the ice unless something happened in close (like a spear or something). The hit on Betts was even worse; that happened right in front of me and was worthy of a match penalty. Not to mention, the play was right in front of veteran official Bill McCreary. Schoenfeld politely called out the league in the postgame interview. Let's see if they do anything.

Even when they made a call on the Caps, they took away any advantage the Rangers should have had. Poti's delay call during the first period was as plain as day, yet it takes 4 guys 90 seconds to figure out if it was a penalty. Were they playing rock, paper, scissors??? The end result was a TV timeout and a total of almost 3 minutes of rest for the Caps penalty killers, destroying any kind of momentum the Rangers had. There is a reason why TV timeouts cannot come before a power play.

After this series, I am pretty much done with the NHL. I love hockey and I love the Rangers but the NHL has been going downhill since the lockout.
