World Champion Spurs Stop Nets⁈⁚ Offense in Its Tracks

The Nets⁈⁚ offense had been rejuvenated since the All-Star break, but it ran into the San Antonio Spurs Sunday evening and went cold. The Nets shot just 35 percent from the field and recorded just eight assists, their lowest total of the season, falling to San Antonio 93-83 at the IZOD Center. After going ahead 2-0 in the opening minute, the Nets would never lead again, as the Spurs were methodical on both ends of the floor all night. The Nets were within shouting distance for most of the game, but the Spurs answered any run they made, never letting the Nets cut the deficit to less than six points in the second half. Tony Parker led the way for San Antonio with 25 points, eight boards and seven assists. Vince Carter and Devin Harris led the Nets with 21 apiece and Richard Jefferson added 18, but the Nets did not get much from anyone else. Harris and Boki Nachbar both suffered hip injuries in the game. The two teams will meet again Tuesday night in San Antonio.

No it was.

They got guys heaving jump shots (your going to make some if you heave one thousand of them).

They got Diop and Hassell heaving shots.

They never gave the Nets confidence to attack the basket.

Maybe the Nets helped them a bit, but it was the Spurs plan to make the Nets beat themselves.

They made the Nets shoot J's all day.

Yup, some bad coaching too. Diop and Boone should have been on the floor together in the fourth and not Hassle.

Hassell is horrible, but Frank loves to use him... so frustraiting. I don't get why the Nets don't try to sign Cassell he would be very valuable.

You see, there are another 29 teams that want him. Not to mention that he wants a ring, and that the current best team (record-wise) in the NBA wants him (Boston).

I thought he was put on waivers, doesn't that mean that the worst teams have first crack at him?

Well the celtics pretty much have him now. Besides, he is a pg and we already have 3 point guards.

It was an outright buyout.
