The Giants have not yet clinched the NFC East, how in the heck can they have clinched a first round bye? Even if their record is better than another division winner, as the wild card you are always stuck as the #5 or #6 seed and don't have the bye.

the giants are 3 games better than the coxboys, the next closest team, and the redskins. the cowboys and redskins will play each other, so with only 4 games left, one of those teams will lose and fall out of the race, and the giants will clinch automatically.

The problem is that there are 5 games left, not 4. In theory, the Giants can finish 10-6, the Cowboys (for example) can finish 12-4, the Skins could then be 11-5 (as they couldn't win out, if the Cowboys did). The Giants can still finish as low as third in the division and not even have a playoff spot. I didn't look at all the schedules, but if the planets aligned themselves correctly, I think they could even finish in a tie for last.

Your math stinks. I hope you don't do math like that when you file your taxes.
