The part that I liked when he managed was how he let Varitek catch but then pinch hit for him when it was his turn at bat, Francona knew Varitek didn't deserve an AS spot but he couldn't leave his player hanging so he let him catch some and put Navarro in.

Well he probably wanted to just get Krod in there so the guy could get a chance to pitch in the All Star game. I thought that was nice on his part.

tell that to the rays who would prefer kazmir not to pitch. The reason why the roster was expanded so that there is a pitcher to be save for extra innings and not to use every single players. He could have save santana or any other starter for that matter.

He dd a terrible job managing the game. He was very lucky last night b/c that game almost ended up in a tie b/c of his buffonery. He completely blew out the bullpen and was stuck with his last pitcher, who 2 days ago piched over 100 pitches. I don't know how you could say he did a good job last night.

I guess he should of managed the game knowing it would go 15 innings *confused face*.

No way. He shouldn't plan for an extra inning game. It's not like he's the manager. He should assume the game will only go exactly 9 innings b/c no baseball game has ever gone to extra innings. And no all-star game has ever ended in a tie b/c of running out of pitchers. It's not like the rosters were expanded and precautions taken so managers wouldn't be reckless like Francona and blow through their whole pitching staff.

You're right, Francona is a genius! I wish I knew that baseball had a time clock that expired after the 9th inning *rolls eyes*.

i personally think clint did a better job..he managed his bullpen better and if lincecum wasn't in the hospital with the flu he would've had another pitcher

You are dumb a couple years ago the AS gam ended in a tie. Also how did he manage the bullpen wrong? He can't over use pitchers just because of a chance of going extra innings.
