Maybe not you in particular, but I saw a lot people people cheering for the white sox in your playoff game threads here.

Root for the Rays, but know I see it as kind of pathetic. I'm sure dodgers fans feel similarly, maybe even worse so since you were calling for "clueless" Joe's head last year.

Now do you people see what Ive been saying about these idiots down here? What a bunch of clowns.

Its so easy to say: "Ive been a fan since blah blah blah". That is the same thing I hear from every idiot with a brand new Rays hat on down here. If that were the case, they wouldnt be at the bottom of the league in attendance every year. Including this year that they finished in first.

When Yankees are done, I really don't care who wins. It's amusing that you have the need to monitor Yankee fans' comments. I'm guessing how we feel means a lot to you. If our Yankees won the division, I couldn't care less how Ray fans feel about us. You're probrably waiting all season long for the opportunity to "stick it to us". It seems your elation is not about your team winning but us losing. Wins or loses I have supported my team though good and bad times. I can't say the same about Ray's fan base. They happen to "the flavor of the month" and the place to be seen. History indicates those "flavor of the month" fans will leave en masse after the novelty wears off.

Well, here's the thing you don't seem to understand. No one is "latching on" to the Devil Rays. (And yes, I still refer to them as the Devil Rays. I hate it when teams change their name for no reason). It's not like everyone here is now a Devil Rays fan.
It's just people are rooting *against* the Red Sox. There's a big difference. If the White Sox had beat the Devil Rays, everyone would be rooting for the White Sox. Rooting against a team is different than latching on to the other team.
Besides, in a couple of years, the Yankees will just buy just all your good players and you'll be back at the bottom. tongue

They might then again, they might not. One thing you need to learn HUMILITY, you know how many Teams have bragged about being the Present, about being the best. Go to the record books and check how many of them repeated. Cardinals, White Sox, Detroit Tigers, The Reds, Brewers, etc, etc. All of those Teams thought that by winning one WS people will admire them. Wrong, in order to be what the Yanks are, is to be able to be continuously successful, and you are not successful, One Championship doesn't get you a seat with the Elite of All Times. Keep in mind the Yanks have won 39 Pennants and 27 World Series, it won't be equalled or tied by any Baseball Franchise. They are the Most Successful Franchise in the History of Sports. You need to win lots of Championships to be able to take the bitter taste in your mouth for all of those 100 game season loses and the record you must have for futility.

You have a good core of young players, but those are the same players that will look for greener pastures when the FA comes around. Tampa Bay won't pay their own the amount of money each of them will demand. When you go to the Playoffs, and if you win the WS, which is the ultimate Prize, all of your players become richer, they will demand more just beause they were in the Post Season, will be more expesive next year and that is the reason small market teams have a terrible time repeating.

Don't forget that part of the Luxury Tax the Yankees pay, goes straight to the owners of the small market teams, and that includes the Rays. You think your present owner will put back the money on the Team as George Steinbremmer always did? Of course not, but he will raise the price of tickets, that is for sure. You will never come close to the Yankees record, as a matter of fact, no one ever will, so if I was you, I wouldn't disparage the Yanks beause you don't know what you are talking about.

Even when the Rays were successful this year, you still couldn't get that Stadium full. Yes it is full for the Playoffs, but don't forget that most of those Fans are Red Sox Fans. There are only two Teams that can put fans on the sits, whether it is the Rays or Kansas City, and those two teams are The Red Sox and the Yanks, that ought to tell you something.

So enjoy your ride, you earned it, but be careful with the Red Sox, because the only Team that has ever being able to handle them THE YANKEES.

By the way, as bad as we were, the Yanks were able to win the Season Series VS the Rays, so you still, can't beat the Yanks Head to Head.

The Rays are like that fat kid who is a little slow in school who you can't help but root for. They try and try and finally slay the giant. It is like the feel good stories that is showcased on Oprah and shows like that and you are happy for them because you know that it will be the only success they achieve....

The only reason a Yankee Fan will root for the Rays, is because we don't want the Red Sox to win. Don't forget had the Yanks laid like dogs the lat 3 games of the year VS Boston, you wouldn't have won the Division, it is because the Yanks put them away. What you got the AL East through the Back Door, courtesy of the Yankees
