2 or 3 years ago ESPNCL showed a 1952 WS game with Mickey and the Yankees...the whole game. Mantle homered, too. These games are out there...

Thanks JC. So the excuse cant be they dont exist. What bugs me even more is the lack of a response....maybe this thread will draw attention. This franchise is rich in history and if any team would have classics to show its the Yankees. And YES is supposed to be about the YANKEES right?

Wait a min....I just thought of something. I DONT HAVE YES ANYMORE!Embarassed  Well my Dad does and he could record it if they ever showed one. Embarassed

I think it's great you guys ask YES to find some of these old broadcasts but the truth is not much of anything exists of actual game broadcasts with the Yankees pre 1970. I have collected a ton of old games on VHS and DVD over the years and there are 2 complete Yankee World Series games from 1952 gm 6 & 7, Don Larsen's perfect game which is a fairly recent find and the 1960 game 7 which Bing Crosby kept. There are also a couple of partial Yankee World Series games from the 50's. 1 from 55 and one from 57 and 1 from 61. And that's about it for the Yankees pre 1970.

1965 seems to be the first time when the saved all the World Series games on black and white. Then from 1968 on most World Series games are available. Almost nothing pre 1970 regular season is available from any team.

I know it's hard to believe this but they just didn't keep that stuff back then. I think it was a combination of being too expensive and time consuming and not thinking people would want to see the game again unfortunately.

Now what they could show is the all the Yankee World Series 30 minute highlight films from the 50's on up if MLB would allow it. I think that may be the problem with some of these older games I listed above, MLB might want to get paid by YES for showing those. Although the Mets show the 69 WS games all the time so I'm sure they could show them if they really wanted to.

Hopefully they continue to find a few games here and there in the future like the Larsen game and the 1960 gm 7, but if they do it will probably be from collectors like Bing Crosby not from the networks.

Here is a good web site for one of the top collectors that has been around forever and has worked with MLB on finding and restoring old footage. Some good info on what is really available at this point. I actually have had a few phone conversations with him over the years and he has spent a lot of time talking to local networks and trying to find old stuff. He knew about the Larsen perfect game video years before it was release. Every year I get a new catalog with a few new things added.

There is also a lot of stuff for sale on the collectors web sites like ioffer.com...even though that is technically not legal unlike Doak's site above which is supported by MLB

Anyway keep asking ! who knows maybe they will start showing a few more old games. I would love it for sure.
