A Very Sad Day for Yankee Fans

For the first time in a long time we didnt go after the big name or the best player out there....we keep what we had....Is that the worst thing that could have happened??? of course not but we definately didnt put ourselves in the BEST postion to go farther than we have gone the last few seasons. Without an Ace, we will have to rely on Wang to step up when we need a win.....I dont know how you feel about that but I know there is a era of 19.06 floating around from last seasons post season performance by Mr. Wang.... Without an Ace we send up 3 rookies in our rotation and an old feeble Moose. Rookies that have proven nothing but god help Mr. Hughes if he doesnt come up big this season....We could have had a CY young award winner for him but we kept him. I hope he pitches his heart out cause he will be compared to Santana all season....JOba as a starter is a mystery and Kennedy though showed promise will be a 4 or 5. At least we have Pettitte and have to hope that the constant barrage of questions about his use of a certain substance wont effect his season. Well.....I am disenchanted with my favorite team....they didnt even put in an offer to put themselves in the BEST POSITION TO WIN......Oh...but they did go out and get Hawkins........yippie

The asking price was too high. They wanted too much from the Yankees and took a lesser offer from the Mets. Why can't people figure this out?

And it wasn't just Hughes. There are still rumors that they wanted both hughes and kennedy as well as Melky.

Even without Kennedy in the offer, who plays CF for the Yanks next season? Damon? lol, that would be bad news.

And we've known for weeks that the Yanks were out of this, so today shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

You are wrong. This is a very good day for Yankee fans. Our organization has stopped buying every player on the market and turned to developing our own kids. This is the better way. Period. What a day, for Yankee fans, when Phil Hughes puts up Johan Santana like numbers for $100 million less.

I agree Smokey they wanted too much and they got a lesser deal with the Mets because they realized nobody was biting...

Let's all load up on Hughes. He is 21 years old pitching in his first full season. He'd better "come up big" or "God help him".

Real intelligent baseball perspective!!!!!

Who knows. Its impossible to make that call right now. You like to throw away the Yankees future for the next decade so we can have a good pitcher. Stupid.
