Fat Mike would rather his team be at home with Hunter Jones on the roster watching the playoffs on tv rather than being one win away from the title....

Francesa just said Girardi ought to tell the guys, "hey this is a free game, just have fun" and  wants start the NL pitcher with a 5 ERA vs the Phillies. He doesnt want AJ on 3 days rest. No! you go for the dagger in the heart, you put your guy, with maybe the nastiest stuff, in to finish it off. You do not give the Phillies any momentum. Anyone think Gaudin can last his usual 5 innings? even after not pitching in a live game in what? a month?

What if the Yankees lost last night and the series was tied 2-2 rather then them being up 3-1?

Who do you think the Yankees should pitch  in Game 5 against Cliff Lee?  Chad Gaudin or AJ Burnett?

If your answer (because the series is tied 2-2) is to go with AJ Burnett on 3 days rest, then why not hesitate sending him out to the mound with the Yankees up 3-1?

caller Randy calls in and says Melky will not be in the game tonight and Mike ask him how he knows this. Randy says your radio station said it half an hour ago that he was doubtfull, Mike doesnt believe it.

I like the idea from caller Randy, he says put Matsui in the field. I like it, do it.

Let me touch on somethings here..(and this isn't directed at 1 person...this is a general rant)

1) this is the world freaking series.....you are not going to go turn this into a bullpen game after 3 innings. I mean come on people. Think a little. Gaudin for 3....Aceves for 3....i mean listen to yourselves. This not a game in june vs the royals. This is game 5 of the world series.

Gaudin hasn't started in over a month....and if your game plan is too let him go 3 or 4 innings...and then make it a bullpen game...i would strongly suggest you find some literature about how this great game of baseball works.

2) Concern's about Andy are fair....he had arm problems in the past. But we are talking about 1 start. 1 game. The LAST game of his season. His arm is not going to detatch off his body and go flying into the crowd in the 4th inning.

Andy is a big boy...he can handle pitching 1 game on short rest to try and win the yankees the world series.

Your talking about not turning this into a bullpen game after 3 innings but you risk doing that with Pettitte going on 3 days rest. Last game he was winded after 100 pitches, he probably would be winded after about 80 on 3 days rest so that turns into a bullpen game. Yes this isn't June but it also isn't win or go home either. We have a 3-1 advantage. You can't put all your eggs in one basket. We have wiggle the wiggle room and the original plan was to start Gaudin in game 5. That changed after game 2 when AJ was dominant. And I haven't even begun to mention the lineup we're going to be throwing out there with AJ pitching in a national league park and Melky hurt

Let me try and explain this to you slowly...and simply.

Chad. Gaudin. Has. NOT. started. a. game. in. over. a. month.

Chad. Gaudin. has. NEVER. started. a. postseason. game. in. his. life.

CHAD. GAUDIN. HAS. NO. BUSINESS. STARTING. GAME. FIVE. OF. THE. 2009. WORLD. SERIES. FOR. THE. NEW. YORK. YANKEES.

Thats your OPINION and your entitled to it. I don't feel like Andy Pettitte with a history of arm trouble should be starting a game on 3 days rest ever. Like I said, I have no problem pitching AJ on 3 days rest. I however have a huge problem with Pettitte going on short rest so in order to neutralize that, I pitch our 4th starter tonight. Thats my OPINION and many others agree with me. You feeling otherwise doesn't make you right.

People, people, people .... if we have we have learned nothing else, we should at least know that Mike is NEVER WRONG!  He was right when he guaranteed the Yanks would play the Angels last Saturday (that the game would not be rained out) ... oh wait it was rained out. He was right when he said Saunders would beat the Yankees on Sun... oh no he was wrong then too.  OK, well he was right when he said Mussina would NOT retire after last season ... uh ... well when he said Torre would accept the Yankees offer in November of 2007 .....  NEVER MIND!!

The only reason the Yankees are doing this is because Gaudin hasn't pitched in such a long time.   He'd probably be worthless and wouldn't be able to go more than 3 innings anyway.   So you're really using a bullpen by committee to pitch this game.   I dont' give the Yankees much of a chance tonight against Lee anyway the way he's pitching,  but I hate to waste AJ in a game like this especially with that lineup that's behind him tonight.  Who knows,  maybe they get lucky and AJ tosses a shutout.  lol

Good point big guy and rich,

Gaudin has not pitched forever. Why does'nt know it all Mike discuss this?

Mike is basically throwing the game and he is admitting as much.

You don't throw games in the world series.

CC , AJ , Pettite all deserve to pitch again this year if needed. Gaudin, a reject of bad teams, does not.

You don't put in Gaudin and give the Phills a chance to wake up their bats.

Mike is being dumb.
