not only would said poster be smoking crack for suggesting joba or hughes....but if Dave Dombrowski would come to the yankees asking for Joba or Hughes for Granderson...crack might be the weakest drug he is on.

I don't want Curtis Granderson.  He's good defensively, but offensively, not so much, especially against lefties, and I am not bought into this one.  Don't want him..

I agree! Granderson is way overrated. Getting him will cost the Yankees A-Jacks and maybe Gardner/Melky. It's  the type of trade that the Yankees would make in the 1980's, and those trades always came back to haunt them.

Wow!! I would really hate to give up Gardner for Granderson. You must be kidding!

i always liked the way granderson played. speed guy with power and really good d. Would be perfect and could replace damon. that being said i wouldnt give a lot for him. austin romaine and a lesser prospect would be the most i would offer.

I like the idea of getting Granderson. The positives outweigh the negatives as far as I'm concerned. I agree with others who think Kevin Long could work his magic with this guy. All depends on what they have to give up to get him. As much as I'd like to see players from the farm succeed with the Yankees at the ML level, if you have to give a couple of them up to get a guy like Granderson you do it.

I would think Granderson would be an upgrade and hope the Yanks acquire him but my only concern is his career average against lefties is. 210 in over 600 AB's. He's over .290 against righties. Long will have his work cut out for him and it would be nice to have a decent replacement for him against tough lefties. To the posters hoping on anything from Nady I don't think you can . He wasn't that good a fielder to begin with and if anything he would another of one to many potential DH's

As I said earlier, you bench him against tough lefties, especially when you have a ground ball pitcher working. He starts 135-140 games a year, comes in for defense the other games. You bat him 6th vs. righties, and 9th vs. lefties, and you try to separate him and Swisher in the lineup. (Bat Cano 7th and Swisher 8th vs. lefties. You keep a right-hand bat on the bench to pinch hit for him in a key spot against a tough lefty reliever late in the game. (Nady, if he's healthy, for example). Melky would make a good platoon partner for him, if he's not traded. Gardner becomes the 5th OF/pinch-runner/defensive replacement. Hinske departs.

If you re-sign Damon, your OF becomes Damon/Granderson/Swisher with Melky and Gardner on the bench, or, if you have to trade Melky with Jackson to get Granderson, your OF becomes Damon/Granderson/Swisher with Gardner and Nady on the bench. This assumes that Nady is willing to take a bench role for next year, coming off an injury. If not, you try to sign someone like Reed Johnson; he's an excellent platoon righty, and plays a passable center field.

That, folks, is an outfield of some quality, to go with the 100 million infield.

This is the master at work folks. Take notes and you will all be as smart as me and qwik one day. Wink

and kids...Eat your vitamins and don't forget to say your prayers

(having a xavier nady back and healthy would be a great asset....like qwik says he can step in for some ABs as a bench guy....but you can also slot him out in RF when swisher is slumping...and LF if a johnny damon gets hurt....having a player like nady could avoid the problem we had in the playoffs with swisher not hitting anything...and having to put in hairy to replace him.)

I kid you not when I saw this written in Feinsand and Madden article...read and LOL

.........Granderson would appear to be an obvious target for the Yankees, but one team official pointed out that Detroit would likely ask for Jackson and either Hughes or Chamberlain for the center fielder, which would leave the cupboard bare if and when Roy Halladay becomes available.

Always proud to be a Yankee fan.

Well, if the Tigers ask for Jackson and Hughes/Chamberlain, the thing to do is counteroffer Jackson/Melancon or Jackson/Melky, and if Dombrowski refuses, say: "Thanks for the call, Dave; call us back if you change your mind. I guess we'll be looking elsewhere for outfield help."

lol   Feinsand and Madden must have made that comment after Happy Hour.  lol    The Yankees would laugh then hang up the phone if the Tigers wanted either Joba or Hughes for Grandersen.   Halladay's a different story,  then you'd have to probably give up one of them,  but Grandersen,  no way.   He's a nice player and I want him,  but no way would the Tigers think they'd get that much.  That's just a ridiculous statement by them.  I could understand Madden maybe making a comment like that,  he's lost touch with reality the last couple years,  but Feinsand had to be drunk !  lol
