Why some here support Obamacare and why more is not being made of a couple key points in the media when this bill:

A. Doesn't even cover every American, even with a socialist option but yet will cost a couple trillion.

B. Plays number games with cost...it's not 850 billion...its more like 3 times that.

C. Will not even go in effect in covering anyone for years!!!!!! But will collect fees and taxes!!

D. Congress has exempted itself from the bill!!! Unfreeking believable!

E. Nothing bi partisan in it...its entirely a one party bill. The R's ideas have been DOA.

F. Claims to cost less by eliminating medicaid waste...well why the hell isn't it being done NOW!! Or before this if they know how?

Face it folks....this is nothing more than a ObamaIwanttosignanythingbill bill. Too big, too massive, too ambiguous for America!!

B. Plays number games with cost...it's not 850 billion...its more like 3 times that.what Bill doesn't. BUSH paid for the wars with money he never put in the Budget. These added to Debt

C. Will not even go in effect in covering anyone for years!!!!!! But will collect fees and taxes!!

D. Congress has exempted itself from the bill!!! Unfreeking believable! I AGREE WITH YOU

E. Nothing bi partisan in it...its entirely a one party bill. The R's ideas have left out! What ideas? They 8 yaers to propose Healthcare. Repubs fought against SS, Medicare and Medicaid.

F. Claims to cost less by eliminating medicaid waste...well why the hell isn't it being done NOW!! Or before this if they know how? Like the 8 years of Bush

Face it folks....this is nothing more than a ObamaIwanttosignanythingbill bill. Too big, too massive, too ambiguous for America!! Yeah, another stupid idea that will cover 40 million more. How about you Repubs oming and joining us Dems in going after the Insurance Industry? You are against Wall St and Banks and their excesses. Why not Insurance companies?

Good morning Davey. This have been a mixture of sources, conservative, liberal and middle. I'm too lazy to look up and produce links. Take my word for it, it's all pretty accurate. Can you answer why you support a bill that is not going to even help anyone for a few years, costs nearly 3 times as much as the Dems procliam ( Because in the 10 yr window they asked the CBO for figures in revenues immediately but expenditures dont happen for years )....Either the Senate or congress bill exempts them and additionally punishes those not wishing to participate, which might be taken to the SC!! It's a mess and the honest reason it is being forced, hurried is for a ego driven monument to Obama!

C. Will not even go in effect in covering anyone for years!!!!!! But will collect fees and taxes!!   TRUE

D. Congress has exempted itself from the bill!!! Unfreeking believable! I AGREE WITH YOU   WOW!

E. Nothing bi partisan in it...its entirely a one party bill. The R's ideas have left out! What ideas? They 8 yaers to propose Healthcare. Repubs fought against SS, Medicare and Medicaid.    I agree the R's screwed up, they had 8 yrs. But tort reform, interstate ins, tax credits to buy ins are all R ideas DOA with the Dems.

F. Claims to cost less by eliminating medicaid waste...well why the hell isn't it being done NOW!! Or before this if they know how? Like the 8 years of Bush  I agree...however the Dems are trumpeting this ...do it NOW regardless of this bill!!

Good morning Mr. Craner7,

I don't like the Bill at all and I hope POTUS does not sign it. It's a bad bill that doesn't go far enough to cuts costs from Insurance companies. There is no strong public option and this is just something to sign. On the other hand the Pepublicans have done nothing. No bills, no help. They want Obama to fail and don't care about the country. Their whole program revolves around getting power back. TeaBaggers are a bunch of nuts that didn't vote foe for Obama anyways. They are dangerous with their threatening signs and guns carried to meetings. I now feel that most Dems in Congress only worry about re-election. There are no heroes that will take one for what they believe in. I am being honest here. i have always dealt in facts and not lies. People disagree with me but cannot deny that I use facts. The fact is this Bill stinks and Obama has been a disappointment to me. Where my problem with Cons is you attack personally someone you disagree with. I am sorry, just an opinion, but there is no way in the World that Obama was not born in the US. FBI, CIA not checking this out. Especially when a Republican was in office. And the attacks about him being a terrorist, a Muslim, not caring fir thids country, selling the US down the road. These are just pathetic and hurts your cause. If you are truly open to facts and common sence you would agree with me. If not the TeaBag nuts are for you.

craner, craner, craner. I'm curious why I never see anywhere near the outrage from you against the insurance companies, ceo salaries paid to wall street and the financial industry, people being dropped by insurance companies when they get sick, the never ending increase in premiums  (like the very explicit example I gave in my case). 47 million that can't afford any coverage, People going into bankruptcy when their families are hit with a catastrophic illness or insurance companies having real death panels? Oh we get the occasional , they are all bad, comments from you but I never see or feel your outrage. Your blind hatred for Obama seems to have clouded your judgement about everything. If you think tort reform and interstate insurance sales are the only answer, we both know you are kidding yourself

Perhaps, if you and your fellow Looney Leftists spent some time and (perish the thought) money better informing yourselves, we Conservatives could take you more seriously.  The CEO compensation crapola, in particular, has never been anything but a demagogic red herring used to whip up envy and hatred on the Left and, sadly, occasionally among the less skeptical and less asute on the Right.

Bank CEO Incentives and the Credit Crisis

Rüdiger Fahlenbrach, René M. Stulz

NBER Working Paper No. 15212*
Issued in August 2009
NBER Program(s):   CF

We investigate whether bank performance during the credit crisis of 2008 is related to CEO incentives and share ownership before the crisis and whether CEOs reduced their equity stakes in their banks in anticipation of the crisis. There is no evidence that banks with CEOs whose incentives were better aligned with the interests of their shareholders performed better during the crisis and some evidence that these banks actually performed worse both in terms of stock returns and in terms of accounting return on equity. Further, option compensation did not have an adverse impact on bank performance during the crisis. Bank CEOs did not reduce their holdings of shares in anticipation of the crisis or during the crisis; further, there is no evidence that they hedged their equity exposure. Consequently, they suffered extremely large wealth losses as a result of the crisis.

Go to the above link to read the whole thing, but here's just the teaser:

Federal Housing Subsidies Are Insane

A New York Times report on the Federal Housing Administration’s subsidies for higher-priced real estate reveals the insanity of federal housing policies. The 2008 stimulus package signed by President Bush temporarily doubled the maximum loan the FHA insured to $729,750 on single-family homes. Coverage on multi-family units can exceed $1 million.

The article starts in San Francisco in early 2009:

In January, Mike Rowland was so broke that he had to raid his retirement savings to move here from Boston. A week ago, he and a couple of buddies bought a two-unit apartment building for nearly a million dollars. They had only a little cash to bring to the table but, with the federal government insuring the transaction, a large down payment was not necessary. ‘It was kind of crazy we could get this big a loan,’ said Mr. Rowland, 27. ‘If a government official came out here, I would slap him a high-five.’

If you’re thinking to yourself that this is the sort of government-induced behavior that helped create the housing bubble, go to the head of the class.

With government finances already under great strain, the policy expansions are creating new risks for American taxpayers. The Internal Revenue Service is giving tax rebates to first-time buyers, and soon to move-up buyers, in a program beset by accusations of fraud. And the government agency that issues mortgage insurance, the Federal Housing Administration, is underwriting loans at quadruple the rate of three years ago even as its reserves to cover defaults are dwindling. On Thursday, the Mortgage Bankers Association said more than one in six FHA borrowers was behind on payments.
