Former Yankee Don Mattingly to celebrate his first anniversary. Glad to hear he's happily married to a home town gal from Indiana. I'm surprised a Hollywood floozy didn't latched on to our Donnie..... His divorce from his first wife was embarrassingly painful. Meet Lori Mattingly, ballet instructor for the School of Evansville Ballet in Indiana....
Lori Mattingly, Instructor
A native of Evansville, Ms. Manion began her training under the tutelage of Jean Allenby-Kershaw dancing in repertoire including: Peter and the Wolf, the Nutcracker, Coppelia, Firebird, Les Sylphides, and other works. Ms. Manion was introduced to Mr. Bush at the Ballet Center during the early stages of her formidable teaching career in the Evansville area. She not only enjoys the process of teaching children, but watching them grow, and is excited to share her experience with the School of Evansville Ballet.
Don Mattingly will wear a wig and a big dress in an Indiana performance of The Nutcracker tonight. He’s going to play a character named Mother Ginger, whose dress apparently hides multiple little kids, who come pouring out during the second act. *
The above link has all the details from the Evansville Courier & Press, including the somewhat awkward suggestion from the Evansville Ballet’s artistic director, who had vaguely mentioned the idea to Mattingly’s wife, who’s also performing.
“I’ve been around athletes my whole life,” Mattingly said. “I look at all these dancers as basically athletes in a very disciplined art form. I really have enjoyed it.”
A couple of seasons ago, Jorge was out for the first few weeks of Spring Training. I went to a game vs the Rays and sat in the right field stands with some Rays fans who were giving Jorge a hard time. He shut them up with his first swing of the Spring and this home run. I got lucky and snapped it just as he let it go.
I have four grandkids. Mother is a Yankee Fan. Her husband, my son in law, is a Sox fan. I thought for sure I had Super Dave as a Yankee fan because I brought him to his first game at the old ballpark, Yanks beat the sox, Giambi homered right over Super Dave's head. But no. Three of the four are with their Dad. But I DID get Charlotte, age 7, to come over to the darkside.
