Don't know if all of you were aware, but Francona has wasted no time in bumping Carl Crawford to the number 7 spot in the lineup after he went 0 for 7 vs. Texas.  Pretty quick trigger there by the Blosox  manager.

Alot of dough for a number 7 hitter, don't you think?     nc

I doubt it's permanent but to try and relieve pressure that Crawford may have felt.

F him! For that kind of money he should learn to live with pressure and EXPECT it or not sign big bucks contracts!

To Girardi's credit, he kept Tex batting 3rd when he struggled early on in his first year here.

That's the story out of ST, but it may be more of a fairy tale.  nc

Hard to tell whether this was a knee-jerk reaction or a smart move based on historical statistical analysis.  H first his bump to seventh likely had more to do with his struggles against lefty's in his career (with the exception of a few outlier seasons) than it did with his struggles in the first two games.  When the Sox face a righty again I would bet a large sum of money crawford is back in the top three.  If Francona continues to keep Crawford down in the lineup against lecture while batting in the top three against lecture he deserves credit.  Honestly the Yankees should be employing this approach with Jeter, he was awful against righty's last year and nothing in this first four games as suggested that's about to change, but he kills lefty's.  I would love to see Girardi employ that approach.

let's hope that Crawford is demoralized by this move and gets to unseat Alfonso Soriano and the most over-hyped, over-paid "superstar"....
