If "the pressure" is too hot in Beantown, imagine how he'd have imploded if he signed in NY?

A big difference playing with the BoSox than with the Rays, who on their best days couldn't draw a crowd..To whom much is paid, much is expected, and that goes for Crawford...I'm glad we didn't sign him...

I doubt it's permanent but to try and relieve pressure that Crawford may have felt.

Actually Francona is right because on that team, Crawford should bat either, 5th, 6th or 7th. Since Papi is hitting he gets 5th, so to break up the lefties, Carl belongs in the 7 hole. I said this all winter: Crawford is the most overpaid and overrated player in the game and his #'s are tough to pigeon hole him into a top of the order slot. Doesn't walk, doesn't hav much power, not a super average like Ichiro. Just a nice player.

I hope the entire Red Sux team continues to play as "nice" as Crawford has been over the last 5 games! I guess the weight of those 2011 World Series Rings has slowed them  down!

Hard to tell whether this was a knee-jerk reaction or a smart move based on historical statistical analysis. H first his bump to seventh likely had more to do with his struggles against lefty's in his career (with the exception of a few outlier seasons) than it did with his struggles in the first two games. When the Sox face a righty again I would bet a large sum of money crawford is back in the top three. If Francona continues to keep Crawford down in the lineup against lecture while batting in the top three against lecture he deserves credit. Honestly the Yankees should be employing this approach with Jeter, he was awful against righty's last year and nothing in this first four games as suggested that's about to change, but he kills lefty's. I would love to see Girardi employ that approach.

enough already. It is only 5 games. The reason Jeter will not be dropped like Crawford has been , is  1) he is the captain of this  team and 2) He is a HOFer and the jury is still out on whether Crawford is one,

It is so nuts for people like you to be critical of every at bat. Were  you  this hard on Tex the last 2 years with his s-llooooow   starts?
