The Rangers are going to the playoffs!!!  A loss to the Devils would make the Tampa/Carolina game every more meaningless.   It would bring lots of joy for Devils to stick it to the Rangers.  Excitingly Tampa Bay helped out with a win against Carolina. This was not a must win for Tampa. Either they dislike Carolina or wanted Rangers in the playoffs.  Certainly Tampa had a connection with Rangers as Tortorella coached them to the Stanley Cup title in 2004.

Lighting forward Martin St Louis said..."I'm happy for Torts. He's done a lot for my career," "If we could have helped him, great. We played the game, though. It's not like we were working extra hard for Torts.

Rangers match up well against the Capitols with 3-1 win this season.  Regardless what happens, nice to see Rangers make it to the playoffs as the Devils tried hard to eliminate them.
