Finally got his ring, albeit without the Nets.

Seems like more people care about the Heat losing than the Mavs winning. I don't respect Kidd for how he drove himself out of NJ and his comments afterward, yet I respect the way he plays the game. They earned that title after facing adversity with not only the Heat, but the Lakers. I just hate to see Cuban's dumbas$ with that trophy.

Actually, I saw in an interview, Kidd really really wanted to stay, but he saw the writing on the wall with Ratner. (2 years later, 14-68). Dealing KMart and slashing payroll just to try to get a new arena in Brooklyn. Ratner had no interest in the Nets as a team - only as a real estate opportunity in Brooklyn.

So, Kidd forced himself out - and he was right to. And we now have Deron Williams - hopefully, we can make HIM happy.

There are more professional ways to try to get out than faking a migrane to sit out of a game with an already short-handed team against the Knicks. Let the ownership know you want out and aren't intrested in being apart of the future of the team. I can't respect a pro athlete who fakes injury or sickness to avoid playing... even if it is an attempt to send a message to the front office. Plus, don't forget his advice to Melo: avoid the Nets at all costs.

It was nice to get that monkey off our backs: the disappointments in the playoffs, and people who said J-Kidd was way too old to make any meaningful contributions to a team, the people who said trading away Devon Harris was the end of the Mavericks, and the people who thought the Heat and Lebron James were the second coming of Christ up until Game 6 of the NBA Finals. But most of all I'm happy for Dirk; there probably isn't a guy in the entire League who deserved a ring more than he did, he's a class act. This whole team showed what it means to be a "team", not just a couple of great players. People love to talk trash about Cuban, but no owner cares more about the fans and putting forth a good product than he does.

All the best to the Nets fans for putting up with this post. I'll be rooting for you guys, too. As long as the Heat never win a title, I'm happy. Laughing

Classy post, and I agree it proved that this superstar formula isn't always guaranteed success. I believe the Heat will win the title within the next 3 years, yet I wouldn't be upset if they didn't. Lebron is clearly immature on and off the court. The Mavs were the better TEAM, and yes Dirk did deserve a title after years of being labled as soft and overrated.

I think they were more rooting against the Heat, as everyone would root for the field against Miami. It's both good and bad for the NBA.

I can't stomach the Heat, talk about trying to buy a championship.

It wasn't even an owner getting good people. It was player collusion - and that's one of the reasons for the lockout.
