Yankeeman, if Jeter gets to 4,000 and you manage to keep this thread updated through it all...  I think I may be more impressed with your consistency and dedication.  Good stuff man!

Strat I havent missed a Jeter at bat ever so I will be here til the day he retires you can bet on that! Just to put it out there it's not that I am a so called Jeterite or something. I was brought up to appreciate the rare things in life, the history, the tradition and to pay attention to those special players. My grandfather was the Yankee fan in a family of Met fans. He used to tell stories of Joe D, Mantle, Ruth, Lou and all the other greats. I want to be able to tell my grand kids that I never missed a Jeter at bat. That I didnt miss a game since 1995. To me that is something special. To watch this small twiggy kid turn into one of the greatest (career) Yankees of all time was amazing. I hated him when he first came up (before I watched him play) because I wanted what he had. I dreamed of being the starting SS of the Yankees also, but as we can see it never happend lmao. One can dream. Once I saw the way he played I knew he was going to be a special player!

Oh believe me, I know you're dedicated enough to do it.  Keep it up...  Whether Jeter gets there or not it adds to the fun along the way.

I can't do it ... I can post my love for everything Jeter in here ... but I can't count down that many hits ... maybe Mr. Yankeeman has the patience!

CHICAGO -- With four singles and a double at U.S. Cellular Field on  Wednesday night, Derek Jeter continued his march up the all-time hits  list.

The Yankees' captain reached on a bunt single in the first inning, then  knocked a base hit to right field in the second, giving him 3,024 career  hits to move him past Hall of Famer Lou Brock for sole possession of  23rd place on the all-time list.

He then singled in two runs during the Yankees' seven-run third inning  outburst and singled yet again in the fifth. After lining out to first  in the seventh, he doubled and scored in the eighth for his second  five-hit game of the season and the fourth of his career.
