I'm tired of hearing it after 10 years, that'about 800 times. I got tired of Stairway To Heaven after 5 plays; You Shook Me All Night Long after 3. Eight hundred is really pushing it.

I understand you are tired, but the people who died are still dead, and the loved ones who lost them most likely still grieve ... if all things should stop when people get tired of them, why do we still play The National Anthem at the beginning of each game? ... if it were up to people that grow tired of things, we wouldn't be doing that anymore either ... for those who are tired of it, probably a great time for that snack or bathroom break!

Playing the National Anthem is lame too. Its just a ball game. Where did that idea come from to play the National Anthem at ball games?

Why do children Pledge Allegiance to the Flag each day in school ... where do these things come from? ... oh me, oh my, what major issues we have to face in life!

That's another good question about the Pledge, isn't that kind of like they used to do in the Soviet Union or China, in state sponsored schools?

LOL ... I'm finished taking the bait ... have a good night!

That's not fair Mo. I'm bored. The game sucks. And no Sox game for perverse enjoyment. LOL

Don't worry, tomorrow night we play Boston ... you won't be bored! Wink

just tired of the genericana. there are many ways to honor the slain. i find it more honrable to keep their memory alive with something inspired, rather than a mindless, cliche'd droned out, energyless rendition of an exclusive song.

Exclusive?  It's not exclusive... The lyrics say "God Bless America"- Not "God Bless rich Americans" and not "God bless Americans but not Frenchmen."

...And, to an entire generation of Americans, Kate Smith's "God Bless America" is very inspiring.

People need to stop drinking the anti-American Kool-aid.  America is great for what it stands for... Not for what it stands against.

God Bless You for saying that!

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson ordered that "The Star-Spangled Banner" be played at military and other  appropriate occasions. Although the playing of the song two years later  during the seventh-inning stretch of the 1918 World Series is often noted as the first instance that the anthem was played at a baseball game, evidence shows that the "Star-Spangled Banner" was performed as early as 1897 at opening day ceremonies in Philadelphia and then more regularly at the Polo Grounds in New York City beginning in 1898. However, the tradition of performing the national anthem before every baseball game began in World War II.[8] Today, the anthem is performed before the beginning of all MLS, NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL games (with at least one American team playing), as well as in a pre-race ceremony portion of every NASCAR race.

So there is nothing inherent in a baseball game that requires the playing of the National Anthem.

No, but I'm getting bad feelings that Girardi won't put his best team out there to win.
