If Mark Rzypczynski..........

Geez....what is baseball coming to if a guy like Mark Rzypcynski is the most important player in the World Series?   The guy couldn't make either the starting rotation of the Jays or even their major league roster.  He was routinely bombed by the Yanks in 2009 and 2010 when he started against them.  They'd always beat him like 9-0, and we'd be like ..."thank god it's Rzypcyzinski starting tonight against us instead of Ricky Romero..."  and even Nick Swisher would hit two homers.

And now the guy is the key to the Cardinals winning the World Series?  He and Allan Craig?   Geez...

Toronto obviously misused him, Zep has been a solid reliever for the Cards.

Exactly.....all that counts is making the playoffs.  Then it's a total crapshoot.  It's not the best team that wins.  It's the hottest team.  The Cardinals were a .500 team in August.  They never even had a sniff of a division title.  They played a crucial series against the Brewers in early August and LOST ALL FOUR GAMES.  Then they got hot in September and snuck into the Wild Card because the Braves totally collapsed.  Now, they might win the World Series.  Hate to say it, but a Cardinals win this year DEPRECIATES the meaning of the World Series Championship.  This would be the second time since 2006 that a mediocre Cardinals team wins a World Series title.  It's bad for baseball.  And, by the way, last year's Giants were the "hot" team too....they weren't a great team either.

It makes the 2009 championship all the more special.  That year's Yanks were truly the BEST team (103 wins) and they beat the second best team in the World Series.  Very rare nowadays.

And now Arthur Rhodes???? Are you kidding me????  Isn't this guy like 50 years old???  Didn't the Yankees beat up this guy in like 2000?  (David Justice HR in ALCS Game 6?)  Heck, didn't Eric Chavez beat him with a base hit in April?

And it's why I'm rooting against them. I'm sorry, but a team that played like crap most of the year and then gets hot right at the end doesn't deserve to win it all.

And as you said, 09 was more special because for once, the two best teams WERE in the Fall Classic.

You guys just have sour grapes.  The Cardinals path to the World Series wasn't "easy" and wasn't just about getting hot.  They clawed there way back from being out 10.5 games to the Braves and in the first round of the play-offs they had to face the Phillies.  Not only that it went 5 games and in that 5th game they won 1-0.  Then on to the Brewers, another team that was supposed to cripple the Cards.  But not to worry, the Cardinals treated the Brewers like a AAA team only taking 6 games to finish them.  But yeah you guys keep tell yourselves that they don't deserve it.  They made the play-offs and faced the two toughest NL teams to get to the WS, I think they earned it.

Unlike us who choked away a million opportunities in game 5 of the ALDS.

No one has sour grapes. Real Yankees fans just can't all the sudden root for a team the way you can root for the Cardinals. Typing paragraphs to defend them. No true Yankees fan cares enough about either team to be this hardly rooting for them, except you. Which makes me wonder if you're truly a Yankees fan.

All the playoff system has proved is that it's not always the best team that makes it to the big show it's the hottest team at the right time that makes it.. The true best two teams in the WS was when you didn't have any playoffs, you had the teams that ended up with the best record in both leagues.. Not all this inner league play, you played everyone the same amount of games and you know at the end of the season who the best team in the AL and who the best team in the NL was...  That's all this playoff baseball is about is money !!
