ESPN is definitely in the pocket of Red Sox ownership

How come ESPN is the ONLY channel that thinks that Bobby Valentine on the Red Sox is a good idea? Even the ESPN site has one or two articles of "uh oh".

But how come the newspapers are noting how the new GM got screwed over with the signing, the players aren't pleased, how guys on ESPN say that Valentine will straighten out the clubhouse when he once said what happens in the clubhouse has NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM?

Valentine is not a disciplinarian.

Watching the implosion as "team sources" (aka Valentine) will leak various things about the players (say hi, Todd Hundley)

The guys on MLB.network's Hot Stove think he's a very good choice too. This was clearly Larry Lucchino's pick.   Cherrington won't be able to make a move for awhile unless Lucchino says he can.

Don't worry. Ownership will find a way to blame Cherington, too.

Epstein picked their pocket getting Dale Sveum.

If they ever get off to a slow start next year, all hell could break loose.  The Boston media makes the Mets media look like little girls.   Sooner or later its going to get ugly.

A 2 year deal was about right. I figure the ship gets rocky towards the end of the second yearLaughing

I agree, 3 at most.  He has to win, and soon.   I heard Buster the other morning say they'll deal Youkilas if they can get a good return for him.   I was surprised by that, but the guy's been hurt the last few years and has seen his production down.  They've got more flaws right now than the Yankees do.  They need a starter and closer, not to mention a rightfielder and they need Papi back at Dh.  They aren't afraid to make moves though.   Cherrington may have the GM title, but its Larry Lucchino's baby now.

Might be tough getting much back for Youk now since he's been hurt the last 2 years. Did you see the press conference Big? Bobby V is one strange dude. I think Lucchiano might screw up the Sox faster then Hank would have screwed up the YanksSmile

Lucchino and Henry were both part of the Yankees ownership years ago.  He hates the Yankees.  He's the jerk who came up with the Evil Empire crap.

Bobby's an odd type of guy.  I think he's very good on the field and he's a talker, but I don't know how he'll react when they go thru some tough times.  He reminds me a little of Billy Martin.

Who gives a dam n if ESPN likes the Red Sox. They're a business, it's about ratings. Would you rather them talk about the savvy Padres and what big moves they've got in store?
