The problem is 61, the Yankees have probably 6 players on their roster that are overpaid, three of them the Yankees have bid against themselves on, Rodriquez, Jeter and yes Soriano. I'm thinking out loud here , stating the obvious but when the team spends money with no regard on a future budget it ends up costing upgrades at some point. Legacy contracts absolutely has to stop.

Those talking heads got it wrong as they said...Angels are chasing after Wilson. After spending a truck load in addition to a bad contract Vernon Wells guess Wilson will not be Angels bound.
They say they want both of them, and Wilson has said from the start he'd like to play there. He's a S Cal kid.
From what was reported Angels are not going to offer him a deal greater than what Weaver received. That being the case perhaps other teams can offer more to ink Wilson. Unless he's willing to take a lesser salary and duration.
If they're sticking to that he'd have to take less. I saw where their offer was 5/70 for him as of last night. They can afford him though if they want. They just got a huge TV deal. If not, it could really hurt Wilson.
Weaver is their Ace, they are not going to give Wilson more than what Weaver received. Weaver gave Angels a discount with his deal to help out his team. If I was Weaver I would be annoyed if Wilson is offered a bigger contract.

Adding the extra Wild Card from each league makes it far far less likely that the Yankees won't make the postseason and makes it far far more difficult to predict which playoff team will win the Championship. There are no locks in a short series.

They are trying to get under 189 million by 2014 to avoid the huge luxury tax hit. They are at 173 mil right now pre arb. Cry me a river. Spending to much has put them in this position. We are not meant to win every year. Outspending the competition got us 1 WS after 9 years of it.. Get used to it.

If the Angels are really serious about getting Wilson too, Texas may have to rethink their offer to him. That would make Wilson and his agent happy to get a bidding war going. Otherwise, I'd look for Texas, the Yankees, and Toronto to be the big bidders for Darvish.
Weaver contract 5 year 85MM. From what is reported Wilson accepted a 5 year contract worth 75MM. Look out Rangers here comes the Angels!!! Rangers fans will certainly see alot of Wilson.....
