Why is Pujols getting a pass?

I believe that there may have been a bit of history in Pujols decision making.  The Cards did not treat him as well as they should have based on what he meant to the franchise.  I think he felt underappreciated.  Now it is hard for us to fathom being underappreciated when someone offers you millions, but these things are all relative.

ok dummy - here's what we are to believe if we were as stupid as you...   about 13 years ago McGwire asks for a trade and gets it, somehow the Cards and McGwire had this magical power to force the A's to make this deal...  so the baseball gods figure out this evil plot to get back at the Cards by letting them have the best hitter in the game since Babe Ruth, he plays there for 11 years and leads his team to 3 NL Pennants and 2 World Championships (one more than your boy Aroid), then he leaves as a free agent, so tell us exactly how this is karma?
