According to Scott Swaim (@MLBInsideNews) the Nationals and Fielder have agreed to an 8 year deal which includes an opt out clause after the 3rd year of the deal.

-----------------------------------

No other source are report anything remotely connecting stalks between Fielder and the Nationals and it's been more than 30 mins since Scott Swaim made the initial report. Swaim is the same guy who was reported the Yanks and Angels were discussing swapping Robertson for Trumbo (which wasnt reported anywhere else and it went nowhere) and that the Blue Jays won the Darvish bidding (which obviously was false) but he was also the first to announce the signings of Pujols, Wilson, Beltran, Furcal, and Cuddyer....so he obviously has some credibility.

If true, good for the Nationals, and good for the Yanks, because Fielder doesn't go to the Rangers.

It may be true but until I see it posted on MLBTR.com or rotoworld.com I won't believe it.

Jim Bowden of ESPN is saying that the deal is not finalized but that the 2 sides are talking. Scott Swain insists the deal is done and that Fielder is flying to Washington today for a physical.

Prince Fielder Rumors: Monday

It's hard to imagine that anything's holding back the market for Prince Fielder at this point. Albert Pujols signed more than a month ago, Yu Darvish and the Rangers worked out a deal, and agent Scott Boras has taken the time to introduce Fielder to some MLB owners. It doesn't seem likely that a new suitor for the powerful free agent first baseman will emerge if Boras continues waiting, since the sale of the Dodgers won't be completed on time to convince the new ownership group of Fielder's value. We're left with rumors linking Fielder to the Nationals, Rangers, Mariners, Dodgers, Cubs and Orioles, but not much certainty. Here are the latest updates on Fielder, with the most recent notes up top:

  • The Nationals continue to work on a deal for Fielder, but there was no agreement as of last night, tweets Jim Bowden of MLB Network Radio and ESPN.com. Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel repeats (on Twitter) that there's no deal at the moment.

So quick prediction, just for fun. Where do you think Prince Fielder will land. I'm still saying it's the Nationals.

I agree.  As long as its not Texas or Toronto I'll be happy.   Let him stay in the NL.  The Mets may not get out of the cellar for the next decade if he signs there.  lol

Fielder or no Fielder, Mets won't do anywhere with that pitching staff. I'm going to enjoy giving it to my family who are mostly Met fans. They still think Santana is going to have a Cy Young type year. lol
