Looky here, the Tigers have just  brought themselves a  pennant and WS. Guess it is only wrong when those damned  Yankees do it ,'

If I am V Mart  , I am one unhappy camper now. That means his days as a Tigers  are OVER , unless Miggy agrees to go back to his orginal 3rd base position and Prince is the First  baseman  or if they think V Mart can still catch  120 games  when he comes back.

This falls under the catergory of  what the H ell ? Is the  owner and  GM thinking?

Agree but i dont understand why the tigers give fielder a 9 yr deal than a one yr deal. Now what happens once v-mart comes back next yr? Where do u put miggy and v mart?

This move makes zero sense! This signs him until he is 37! For an overweight guy this is crazy. I keep thinking teams will learn from the Arod fiasco but i guess not!

options

Miggy was a 3rd baseman for the Marlins and when he first came to the Tigers. They moved him to 1st . They could move him back to 3rd and Prince plays  1st with V Mart  as the DH.

Or V Mart is trade bait

Just seems  like  a  very expensive  knee jerk reaction to losing V Mart for the season.

Lets not get too crazy guys....

Victor martinez 2011   BA .330 OBP .380 SLG .470 OPS .850

Prince Fielder 2011     BA .299 OBP .415  SLG .566 OPS .981

While it is an obvious improvement it is not as significant as adding Prince to V-Mart and Miggy. He is replacing V-Mart.

DH on the DL, owed a lot of $ ...... check!

1b/DH already in place, owed a huge amount of $.......check!

New 1b/DH in place, owed a !#$@ amount of $.......check!

Now they just need to trade for a few bad contracts (Dunn, Rios, Bay) .....

I think if they try really hard, they can score 1000 runs, while giving up 1000 runs due to horrible/no defense.

obviously they expect to slug everyone to death. But, unless Verlander has another 2011, they are  going to give up alot of runs due to errors. Even if Fister and Porcello have good years, errors  lose games  with  shoddy defense.

That's some pickup for Detroit.  They should sleepwalk to that central division.

Reports are that Cabrera will likely move to 3rd base though nothing is confirmed.

V-Mrt is out until atleast the playoffs, if not the entire season. Joel Sherman said that it wouldn't be a surprised if the Tigers attempt to trade Cabrera after the 2012, who would have 3 Yrs/$65+ Mil left on this deal at end of this season.
