My last OUI was in Dallas Tx 27 yrs ago. I hit a parked cop car. I didn't realize I hit it until one day in the mail I got a filing from the court where they were asking for up to two years in jail. I'd thought it was a straight OUI. Of course I hired an attorney that day to find out what was going on. By then my alcoholism was pretty bad. I'd look in my coat jacket pockets every morning for matches so I could see where I'd been the night before. I'd be in a blackout by 9:00 p.m. every night. When I got bailed out of jail I was kind of curious why I had to go get my vehicle at the "accident parking lot" and I noticed the battery was kinda pushed back a little but I had been in a blackout and never even realized I'd hit a parked cop car. I had a rare talent for such things................Bob's situation {personally} doesn't sound too good. If you're passed out at an intersection with the car going and the vehicle in drive at 3:00 a.m. in the morning that's not quite the same as going to some party, being stupid, getting caught and blowing a 1.0 on the machine. Bob's situation sounds all to familiar to me........Hope things work out for him.

If a close family member was seriously hurt or killed by a drunk driver, I'd want them strung up. If a close family member made the mistake of drinking and driving and killed or seriously hurt someone, I'd beg for mercy and forgiveness. It's all about perspective.

I'm sure most feel the same way you do new inn, I know I've taken plenty of chances in my lifetime and I'm sure so have lots of other folks.. It's not a good thing to drink and drive, and especially if you have too much to drink, I know laws are a fine line and don't give much leeway on how much you can drink.. Out here where I live people drink more then they should and drive while they are drinking more then in most places of the country.. Again it's got a lot to do with where you live and how much concentration of people that drive as too how much trouble we get into.. I'm sorry to say I like to go out and have a couple with a fine steak or some real good seafood and then jump in my car and drive home.. So far I've been real lucky, never stopped for any traffic violation.. Again it's sometimes better to be lucky then good..

Hey YOF. I wasn't being judgemental at all. It's a tough one. I don't like drinking at all anymore. Gives me a headache. Will have an occassional Martini or some cordials around the holidays but I don't enjoy it enough to endure the headache.

Did you ever find a pack of matches from The Blue Oyster?

In thinking about this thread, I figure we should add to the equation that there are people who should not be behind the wheel even when they are completely sober ... so it should be taken into account if one drives after a drink or two, how good of a driver is he/she in the first place!

Then there's the guy that the police pull over for drunk driving who has low blood sugar due to diabetes. They kick his window, slam him to the ground, grind his face with a few of their boots, pretty much beat him senseless. Take him to the hospital where he is shown to be in a diabetic crisis. But somehow, the police did nothing wrong. The man settles for a ridiculously small amount from the city, the officers aren't sanctioned, and life goes on with them out there looking for the next diabetic "drunk". Police caught on their own tapes ridiculing and mocking the poor diabetic. This doesn't mean to say that Lorenz was right. He was wrong. What's with these "poor guys" that get fame and fortune only to pizz it away on such disgusting excesses? Get back up there at 30,000 feet soaring with the Eagles, and get your sorry arses out of the Turkey Coop.

So it all evens out, doesn't it? In some weird parallell universe. Oh, maybe it is that parallell universe where every year, MLB puts up the BoSox as the team to put your money on. I can hardly wait to see what they will be foisting off as news to us this year. How Low Will They Go in this baseball limbo dance?

Bring it on!

I want to thank the Good Lord for making me a Yankees fan.

He was pretty toasted! As good as a guy running through the streets shooting a gun. He should nailed hard for it, this wasnt just a couple drinks with dinner. Shame on him. Fired? Wouldn't go that far but he needs to offer a public statement.

ya' know R.D.Bronx, I always thought I knew who I was dealing with when you posted...but now, well...have you gotten ahold of an old high school yearbook or somthing?...I'll tell you, it certainly keeps me guessing...

"...let it be known that as of this date in Major League Baseball history the one, truly honest single season home run record...61 in '61..."
