You hit the nail on the head with your post regarding childish commentaries by co called "professional" announcers. TV has been dumbing down its programming for decades, sports is no exception. I'm sure some suit in YES thought hiring an "attractive" female announcer to cover essentially all male sporting events would boost ratings with let's see... what demographic group? Ah yes 12 year old males. Forget the journalism it does not bring to the table, everything is based on ratings or what these suits perceive as key marketing groups. Meanwhile we grown ups can long for the days of Frank Messer and Bill White.

And just to show you I am not just railing against Kim Jones and her ilk, those overgrown frat boys on MLB network make me hit the mute button every time. How much giggling and horseplay can an intelligent fan be expected to put up with in a one hour format? Poor Jon Heyman looks like the class nerd trying to keep up with the cool boys in class LOL. At least Kim Jones has a dignity about her.

But as I posted earlier, bring on Meredith Marakovits, at least see's hot!

I thought Kim evolved into a very good sports reporter. Listen to her on Francessa and it's easy to see she knows more then 98% most people here

The people here know more about the game on the field than Kim.... Most have the execution of ideas like trades and roster moves one sided but that's the nature of a fan and the role of the front office's need for misinformation.  Inside the diamond there is no fan more astitute than the Yankee fan after all many of us had Billy Martin as our teacher......Do any of you guys remember The N.Y. Ranger's color man "The Big Whistle", Bill Chadwick? (R.I.P. 2009)  He eductated our entire city on the in's and out's of ice hockey.  YES should be commended for adding on "Big" Lou who will certainly raise the baseball intellect of every Yankee fan from diapers to old timers....Lastly The Yankees have been gallent and a step ahead of the sports world with their involvent of "on the air" journalists who also happen to be women.  Kim did a fine job in the role she was given, keep that in mind when Bob Lorenz is spotted shirtless with a red cup in hand by the 6th inning.   http://image1.findagrave.com/photos250/photos/2009/301/43545169_125685459549.jpg   http://www.nhlofficials.com/images/hof/chadwick.jpg

I've heard Kim in other venues then her "sideline" reporting, and thought she was pretty knowledgeable about baseball and the Yankees.  I think that she may have been instructed to ask some of those fluff questions, in the hopes that it might entertain a faction of those watching that were less hard core fans.

Agreed. They all do it -- on the sidelines and in the studio.

I will give you just one of Kim’s famous questions that a 2 yr old would ask his Father. Just about every game where there was a walk off Home Run or a walk off base hit by someone on the Yankees, Kim would run on the field and ask her brilliant question.

“Well you got that big Walk off Home Run to win the game. How did you do that?”

Easy Kim I swung the F ing Bat and the ball went over the fence.Tongue Out

She must have asked that same dumb childish ridiculous question a hundred times. How did you do that?

And spending the 3rd inning of a game and listening to Kim with her motor mouth going on like she was being cranked up from behind will be a blessing not to see and hear anymore.

Who cares if she asked dumb questions? Do you think ball players are going to launch into some billiant exposé?

Well if it doesn’t bother you if you are watching a Major League Baseball Game played by Men and you have no problem listening to dumb childish annoying questions by someone that talk’s non stop for the entire 3rd inning of a baseball game, that’s your right.

I suggest you turn on the TV and Watch the Nickelodeon Channel instead of the Yes Channel, and you will get more of Kim Jones Talk regarding a Baseball Game, but this time it will be the little kids talking about the Midget Little League.

We're also sitting here reading a thread you started off with incorrect information. Maybe you should get your facts in order before calling someone else dumb.

How brilliant can a sideline reporter be?  Their job is by nature pretty easy.  Same questions to the same guys every day.  I think it is annoying during the game.  I can not stand when they interview players, managers etc during games of any sport and the post game of baseball you could tape the before the season.  "what kind of stuff did you have"    "how great is mariano"   "how great is jeter"  "Mark why do you only hit one month a year" etc etc etc...  I liked kim she wasnt super hot or anything but she was ok to look at and she is pretty smart.
