This is very strange. With all the starting candidates I wouldn't think the Yanks would need to add another especially for $2.5M. That's quite a risk to take when they were crying poor about not wanting to spend for a DH.

They must be really concerned about the starting pitching. Although, I did say in another thread that it would only take Andy until Memorial Day to be better than Kuroda or Garcia. maybe the Yanks feel the same way. We shall see!

Wow, great news!!!!! I really thought he'd be back at the All Star break last year. I'm a huge AP fan so any time he's in the pinstripes I'm happy. Go ANDY!!!!!!!!!!

Makes zero sense. They cry poverty when looking for a DH and they give 2.5 million to a guy who retired.... Specially when a Phelps or Warren is more then ready to take a spin as the 5th starter....

This is not strange at all. Raul Ibanez was had for only 1.1 mil. By adding 2.5, the Yankees spent a total of 3.6 mil for two veteran players, with one being Andy Pettitte. LOL...that's still 1.4 mil short of what was rumored Johnny Damon was asking for.

Hey LY suit yourself but I can tell you there has never been a time with AP on the mound in the playoffs that I haven't felt the Yankees have a great chance of winning. It's a low risk move and the type that could pay off big if unfortunate circumstances come in to play. Great (again, low risk) move as far as I'm concerned

I've always loved Pettitte as a Yankee and I was sad that he did not come back last year. With that said my old man just told me that he re-signed with the Yankees... I am personally happy about the news and I can't wait to see him this year.

The Yankees have a lot of pitching right now... Someone is going to the bullpen... I personally don't see Hughes in the rotation. The last spot may be down to Nova/Garcia...

Having too much good pitching is not a bad thing :)

Who says he's going to be a starter? Has anyone given any thought to the fact that maybe, just maybe he becomes the 2nd lefty out of the bullpen? having missed a year and most of ST, I don't think he's a candidate for the rotation. Just saying!

This means one or two of the three with options left might just be headed for AAA.. Pineda might need more work then the Yankees had hoped and he will go down for a while.. Although Andy won't be up to start the season, or maybe they use him as a left hander out of the BP, I just don't see that, but who ever dreamed Andy would come back ??  I hope it's what we need and this team win #28 because Andy, and Mo might retire together... The Core Two has just become the Core Three...
