that's an idea but girardi better have gotten a hunch what has happened going back to the ALDS in october. matter of fact, this probably is more of a worry going forward this season than the pitching.

Neither one can get a hit in a key spot with RISP. They are both terrible in that respect, Swisher especially.

Its goes back a lot longer than just the ALDS in October. It been like this for 2 years now. First we were spoiled all those years having Matsui batting in the middle of the line up. He was a clutch hitter but also a good situational hitter. Take the inning when Swisher popped out with 2nd and 3rd and one out. Matsui would either have gotten a hit, sac fly or hit a grounder to second to bring in a run and move the runner to third. Swisher just swings with one purpose kill the ball instead of situational hitting. Swisher is a compiler. he beefs his stats in blow outs and at the end of the year his stats look good. Count the times he can not hit in the clutch. Too many.

Second we have not had a second place hitter since damon left after 2009. Granderson is not a 2 hitter since he misses too often and Swisher is not either yet because we do not have anyone else these guys switch depending on whether we are facing a left or righty.

Biggest mistake Cashman  made was not chanaging the line up a bit this off season. One of the outfielders needed to go to shake things up. Granderson and Swisher K too much and Gardner is a lollipop hitter with no power.

We will still win 90+ games this year as we will beat up bad pitching but until this team brings in a couple of players that know how to hit in situations we will not go far in the post season against good pitching.

Hope everyone had a great Easter.. I had a so so one, the Yankees lost that made it a so so one..

Right now I see the biggest problem with our #2 hitter is we don't have a true lead off hitter.. Jeter makes the perfect number two hitter, what this team needs is a great lead off hitter and we don't have one.. Some want Gardner, but he's not consistant enough and strikes out too much.. But I agree Swisher would be the better pick then Granderson.. Swisher being a switch hitter would fill the spot better, I also think he will cut down on his swings if he were in the #2 hole more then hitting in the #6 hole.. I think Swisher tries to do too much from that spot.. Tex has me puzzled, he was suppose to be working on things in spring training and he hasn't changed a thing.. Still upper cutting the ball and refuses to try to go to the opposite field..  In all honesty, I sit him against right handed pitching for a while until he gives in.. Let Chavez play first and hit from the left side, I guarantee he will put up better numbers..  I know Girardi/Ca$hman would never hear of it, but something has to jar Tex's mind set..

i agree with this. i think soon there will be a system that separates compilers from folks who have a true impact on the game. and i dont think WAR takes this into account. the yanks have alot of guys that will hit a 3 run hr when the team is down 9-2. what they need is more consistent singles and doubles hitters, not the tex's, ibanezes, and swishers of the world. i dont like swish and he'll be gone, but we're stuck with tex forever. and the problem is jeter is a player that doesnt impact the game that much and he'll be getting the most at bats of anyone on the team this year. i think gardner and cano are more of the types of hitters i'd like to have on the team.

Let me see. 11 runs so far this season and Swisher has 4 RBI....

You guys are crazy. First its three games and the panic is setting in. Then you complain about one of the guys that is actually playing well..

Perfect example of what I am saying. 3 of those RBIs came in the 9th inning of a game we were losing 8-3. Grant it it made the game closer but I would trade that hit for him getting a hit either time at bat on Sunday. 2nd and 3rd one out pop out. 1st and 2nd 2 outs and he strikes out.
