the "BOSS"  would be shocked to know that the NY Yankees GM  could not/would not sign a guy like Johnny D all bcuz of money ...we are talking here about an organization thats probably worth 3 Billion , if the Dodgers sold for 2.1 Billion ..would Hal Steinbrenner actually piddle over a few million ? ..or is it the GM who is trying to show " he can win a WS with a lower payroll " ..is that what Cashman is trying to sell the Fan base ?...meanwhile A-Rod's contract has SEVEN more years left enough to choke Godzilla & king Kong .... hate to beat a dead horse here but ..the Yankees should have let A-Rod walk ...

Matsui is finished but Damon would have been pretty good I like how he fights off pitches.

Only problem was last year he quit doing that. He started swinging at pitches he never swung at before and made himself a far easier out in his chase for 3,000 hits. That's something else many teams looked at.

Ibanez should never see RF.  In fact, he should never see LF.  I undersand Swish has his groin issues and they wanted a lefty in the lineup while giving Swish a half day on turf, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and use what's best.  A turf field is no place for a poor outfielder and a good arm in the outfield is a huge weapon on turf as well.  I'd have preferred that he play Jones there (not the OF he once was but far from a butcher) or even Nunez (adequate in the outfield and a gun for an arm).

completely agree NW, again Ibanez should be the absolute, absolute last resort option for RF. I do not see the logic in the half measure of DHing Swish,  you either rest an injured player or you do not. If a guy needs to stay off his legs, then keep them off their legs and let them heal. 3 games into the season, and theres been  a solid list of silly decisions.

Well, you don't often see this much resting this early in the season but we have a mix of age and injuries that probably necessitates it.  Also, we have only 2 off days in April.  Most Aprils, you're only playing 5 days a week but this schedule is rather compact.

Rockin - you must realize that studies have shown that the cement under the Rays home field is the hardest substance known to man...    how can you expect a conditioned athlete to play under such horrible conditions, expect every Rays player to have knee surgery before the year is out...  we should forfeit any game played at the Trop, our boys need their rest...
