Cashman's ego and Ibanez

Damon and Matsui, who can actually hit and didn't show a calamitous decline in offense like Ibanez, were dumped by Cashman, who refuses to admit he was wrong. Brian has been showing signs in the past two years of a huge ego.

Cashman said weeks ago that he picked Ibanez for his defense. Now, 2 days ago, he said "They're all bad defenders, but Ibanez is the worst of the best", which makes no sense whatsoever. If you're going to pick a bad defender, he better be able to hit.

There's a REASON the Phillies let Ibanez go, and it isn't that he was demanding a massive contract.

I didn't see the quote, did he honestly say 'worst of the best?' Ibanez did look disgusting in right field yesterday. Another of those masterful day off calls from Girardi which worked a peach.

If I remember correctly, he tied Roger Maris for the most RBI in an Opening Day game for the Yankees. Cut him some slack; we're 3 games in, for Chrissake. He's a damn sight better than Suck-xeira, that's for sure.

"There is a fine line between 'extended slump' and 'bad hitter.'"

I agree. Thus far, we can't complain about his bat. And it wasn't his decision to play RF. That was Girardi's foolish endeavor. Ibanez should never play anywhere but LF sparingly.

THose who want Damon should also be thinking about the fact NO team has called him back.

He said that one Mike'd Up or Mike's On, whatever its called this week. Not sure of his exact wording, but Jonah's right, that was the basic jist of the statement. I was in favor of signing Damon, because of his speed, but Raul has hit the ball very hard so far. He has probably looked the best of all their hitters.  Hopefully no more miscues in the field for him.

Much longer than that, he's displayed extreme arrogance for many years. Also when people have personal issues going on in their lives that they're embarrassed about, they tend to become more defensive. I'd say that plays into it with him these days.

Cashman actually said it 3 weeks ago, so he just repeated it two days ago, I guess.

A couple of things:

1. For 1 billionth time, Damon walked out on the Yankees.

2. The reason why he picked Ibanez over Damon is the MONEY.

3. The quote, two days ago is wrong. Cashman said “They’re all bad defenders,” Cashman admits. “Ibanez is kind of the best of the worst.”  You said "worst of the best."   Make sense now?

4. The fact that Ibanez was signed by the Yankees on February 20....FEBRUARY 20,....and for 1 million plus, should tell you something as to why the Yankees signed him. As for Johnny Damon, is he playing? There is a reason why Damon isn't playing and you need to figure that out....so does Johnny.

That will take him a month to figure out, Bats!
