Who are these other players? The team has the best infield I've ever seen -- maybe even the best ever. The guy in center was an MVP candidate last year. Swisher has been fairly solid, and Gardner is a nice little player. They have a good catcher. Sabathia's one of the best pitchers in the game, and they have a solid rotation behind him. They probably the best bullpen in the majors.

What else, or who else, do you want?

Best Infield? Well for me that would be this one...

Chris Chambliss

Willie Randolph

Bucky Dent

Graig Nettles

Thurman Munson

That was the infield of my childhood, and while it may be my favorite infield, it's not better than the one we're watching today.

HeatMiser...so it was your favorite infield but today's was better?  Ok, I understand but can I ask a few questions?  Our fav infield was the best in the bigs.  It didn't always play together (Dent injury issues) but when it did it was the best in the game.  If was the AL allstar infield or nearly so at least one time.

Is the 2012 Yankee infield the best in the bigs?

I consider catcher part of the infield...are you discounting the #15 factor?

How may of the current Yankee infield would make the AS Team if voted by players and not the fans?

Forget the All-Star team -- you have Nettes, Dent, Randolph and Chambliss. How many of them, in their prime, would start on today's team?

(By they way, a catcher is a catcher. He's not an infielder.)

Damon and Matsui, who can actually hit and didn't show a calamitous decline in offense like Ibanez, were dumped by Cashman, who refuses to admit he was wrong. Brian has been showing signs in the past two years of a huge ego.

Cashman said weeks ago that he picked Ibanez for his defense. Now, 2 days ago, he said "They're all bad defenders, but Ibanez is the worst of the best", which makes no sense whatsoever. If you're going to pick a bad defender, he better be able to hit.

There's a REASON the Phillies let Ibanez go, and it isn't that he was demanding a massive contract.

just checking, is this the same Ibanez who won last night's game?

I'm not so much worried about the defense of these players Heat... It's the idea that they could be tying up a spot on the field and they can't hit the ball anymore.. Our offense worries me more then the players we have playing defense.. I hope I'm wrong and they can right the ship and get their offense going again, but last year in the playoffs, our pitching was OK, it's our offense that couldn't hit above average pitching.. This team should have smashed that pitcher last night.. But time will tell, I'm hoping as much as the next guy that we can get more people producing in this lineup..
