Phil Hughes  looks different and good so far.  More confidence I see in him.  Hope he does well the whole season and post season as well.

He got into a jam, and worked his way out with poise and a good fastball.  Good job there.

The scary thing is that Phil had a pretty good breaking ball today {alot of times he doesn't have his good breaking ball} and despite striking out six and making some nasty pitches he gave up six runs and about 10 baserunners in 3 1/3 innings. He threw 68 pitches in his first 3 innings WHEN HE WAS THROWING PRETTY WELL!! He left after about 85 pitches. Phil's pitches look awful, awful, awful hittable at times. Cringe-worthy. You have to wonder about Phil as a starter a little bit. You have to wonder what his "max" is as a starter in any rotation.

It's hard to watch a game Phil is pitching.

Yes. Like today. You saw that he did make some nasty pitches and had quite a few swings and misses but at the same time you feel as though somebody could hit one 430 ft at the "drop of a hat."

He just can't pitch for the Yankees. Ala Ian Kennedy.  I was wrong , he needs to be packaged in a deal.

He doesn't have an out pitch. He can get hitters up to 0-2 but can't put them away.

Really hard for me to watch today.. Mostly because it was blacked out in my area.. I had to watch the Twins x Rangers on Fox today.. the only thing good was I got to watch Darvish pitch for the first time, he gave up a good amount of hits, but only two runs.. He's not as good as Wilson who they basically traded his place for.. Any way he wasn't today.. He was 91-93 mph today, big sweeping breaking ball, not real sharp, but he's going to have to be better then he was today to live up to his numbers in Japan.. Twinkies are probably like some of the better teams in Japan though...
