Give him time, its only his 6th year in the big leagues. You need about 15 seasons to really gauge whether a player will be good. In all serious though, the next four or so starts are probably the biggest of his career. Pineda and Pettitte are going to be in the rotation in a month or so. Unless Kuroda or Nova implode, you got to think there spots are pretty secure.

I never have thought that Hughes was a major league starting pitcher. Even the year he won 18 games, the offense averaged like 6 runs per game for him. That probably won't happen again in his entire career. He better just hope that there is room in the bullpen for himself, or he'll be gone somewhere else.

Maybe they can trade him to the Pirates, AJ and he would make a great 1-2 punch.Tongue Out

I do think Hughes is what he is. A terribly mediocre pitcher.  Seen nuff.

I doubt that they could talk Pittsburg into another bust deal like that. Isn't AJ out with the busted eye socket?

Hope Phelps, Warren, Mitchell can be better.  Hughes a disappointment.

Yeah, AJ broke his eye socket practicing bunting. Maybe Pittsburgh has a thing for dysfunctional pitchers.
