I agree completely, that said it will be a real thorn to see the Mariners try Montero at another position and he be capable of average play. It's something that a number of Yankee fans wanted to see happen. The best we can do now is root for Campos to continue to blossom and Pineada to come back strong and learn that training doesn't begin when pitchers and catchers report.

I'll always root for Montero as a quasi-Yankee. My choice.

As will I, heck we heard rumblings about immaturity and such , what 21 year old is mature?

i hope pineda becomes a star. it's amazing, two months ago we had hope of this amazing young staff, and then pineda hurt and throwing 91 mph, hughes stinks, betances/banuelos underperforming. hopefully it all turns around.

Montero will never be a major league catcher, at least never good enough to catch for the Yankees. You can't rely on a 21 year old to be a DH his whole career, which is basically what Montero is. Noese was just a throw-in and is more than adquately replaced by Phelps. Pineda has far more potential to impact the team than either of them.

And you became God, when? Nonsense to your prophetic robes. I'd rather have a clumsy fielding, Manny Ramirez type even as catcher than a clown like Cervelli anytime. What's the beef anyway? He's gone. You can relax now. As I said, he's a quasi-Yankee to me, and will be--unless he turns into a Balboni.

You must be an idiot or maybe you just can't read. When did I say that I was God? And when exactly did I even mention Cervelli? I was just giving my opinion as to why it was a good thing to trade Montero. If you've got a different opinion, that's OK. Sorry, I didn't know that everyone has to agree with you.

Didn't mean to put you down. I don't expect anyone on this board to agree with me about Montero. I just liked his potential for our lineup.

Like I said, his only potential was as a DH, because he can't play the field and if he can't by now, he ain't gonna learn how overnight.

We as fans always have favorite players, I know everyone was putting a lot of hype in Montero.. Maybe he would live up to it, may he wouldn't have ?? We all have to step back and realize that Montero for as good of hitter as he was had no place on this team, he would have been an occasional DH and spent most to the time on the bench.. Now was that the place for him, probably not, so that's why he's playing in Seattle and we have a couple pitching prospects with us.. Pineda has a bright future, he's came into the Yankee system with a little case of not knowing just how important getting into shape before spring training starts.. I'm sure he's learned his lesson, if not he will... The other arm we got in the deal (can't think of his name), but sounds like he could be a real good pitcher in the next two/three years.. I think we all have to take a break and realize Montero really didn't have too many options on a team that's full of future DH's...

That's Jose Campos YOF.  He's been outstanding in his three starts so far at low A Charleston.  Of course he's too young to start the full-on prospect hugging.  Ahh, who am I kidding?  Let's fire up the hype machine and give the kid a hug!!  :)
